David Moyes should leave West Ham this summer, according to Mail Sport football editor Ian Ladyman.
The Hammers suffered their biggest home defeat since 1963 when title challengers Arsenal won 6-0 at the London Stadium on Sunday.
Although Moyes has led West Ham to some impressive results in the table in recent years and brought them the Europa Conference League trophy, there are some fans who are unhappy with his style of football and some of their performances.
Moyes is out of contract this summer and continues to speak It all startsLadyman believes this summer could be the right time for him to step down.
‘If I were David, I think I’d go in the summer. I think I would go in the summer,” he told co-host Chris Sutton.

“Managers usually stick around to get fired or move on to something or something better.
‘I think there’s a time in football when you absolutely have the right to look at your body of work, look at what you’ve done over a period of three or four seasons and say, ‘you know what, I’m here done – I have done what I can do here”.
‘Moyes has listed the achievements himself. I don’t need to repeat them. “I’ve done what I can do. I don’t think it will get better. Some fans don’t want me. I’m going. I’m going with my head held high.” ‘
Mail Sport reported on Monday that West Ham have halted contract talks with Moyes over a possible extension until 2026 as the club’s hierarchy look to prioritize ending their seven-match winless run.
Sutton also credited Moyes for the job he has done at West Ham, insisting he has ‘over-achieved’ at the Hammers.
He said: ‘I think he’s done a phenomenal job. Perhaps it would be a smart move if he were to resign, as you have said, and West Ham employ a manager and it is fantasy football again at West Ham.
‘And guess what they do? Bring back David Moyes for a third time to save the club from relegation. But no, I get what you’re saying.
“There seems to be a problem, I don’t even think there’s an underlying element to the support, but there seems to be some part of the support that just doesn’t have the football brand and that seems to be a problem.

Sutton praised the job Moyes has done and said he has ‘over-achieved’ at the Hammers
‘He’s performing too well at West Ham, so I understand what you mean. It will be interesting what will happen if this new contract, which has been talked about so much lately, whether he will eventually sign it. But in many ways he probably did everything he could at West Ham, didn’t he?’
Ladyman said in response that West Ham do not play in the same attacking style as other teams in the top flight.
He said: ‘The Villa vs Man united Had a fantastic football match yesterday. It was fast paced, it was energetic. There were plenty of opportunities. There were talented attacking players on the field, who were given permission to do what they do best. Villa are a great team. They somehow lost that game.
‘Then you see City, Liverpool and Arsenal. But then you also look at Tottenham and the way they play on the front foot. And when you look at a team like Villa, they are at the forefront. And you even look at, and you look at a team like Newcastle, despite the problems this season. And to a lesser extent, maybe look at a team like Brighton.

Talks over a new contract have stalled due to the club’s seven-match winless streak
‘And I think the quality there and that kind of thunderbolt football is everywhere. It’s everywhere in the Premier League.
‘But it’s not at West Ham because Moyes does it in a different way. And that doesn’t mean he’s wrong. People have won titles playing football this way, in this country and in other countries.
“So it’s not wrong, but it’s different. And I think when you come home after watching West Ham play relatively defensive counter-attacking football, and then you go home and watch Match of the Day, and you see Tottenham flying out of the blocks, and you see Newcastle flying out of the blocks, and Villa flying out of the blocks.
‘I think that’s what doesn’t help the more pragmatic coaches in the Premier League, like David Moyes.’
