David Moyes has revealed his intention to take on another managerial role, but the former Man United and West Ham boss insisted he will only return if the opportunity presents itself.

Moyes is currently out of work after leaving West Ham at the end of last season.

The 61-year-old, who led the Hammers to the Conference League in 2023, has been linked to a number of roles throughout the season.

Should Moyes take another job, it would be the eighth post in a managerial career dating back to 1998.

Moyes admitted to the BBC that he has no intention of taking a job at a club battling relegation if he returns to management.

“I don’t consider myself ready yet, but I am certainly enjoying some time off,” Moyes told the newspaper BBC.

‘The one thing I won’t do is put personal pressure on a manager because I don’t believe in that. I didn’t like it when I was in that position myself.

“We’re all getting a little older and I have to make sure I do the right thing for myself.

“If there’s still a part to it, so be it. But I just wish it would be a good part. I wouldn’t want to come in and do something that’s really difficult.

‘I don’t want to be at the bottom of the league and fighting against relegation, which I’ve been through a few times, so we’ll see how it goes.’

Moyes has played more than 1,100 games during his career, spanning spells at Preston, Everton, Man United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland and two separate spells at West Ham.

The Conference League success marked the culmination of Moye’s second spell with the Hammers, which lasted from December 2019 to May 2024.

The success saw Moyes bounce back from his disappointing spell as Man United manager after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson, as well as difficult subsequent roles at Real Sociedad and Sunderland.

Moyes has been included in the New Year’s Honors list for services to football, highlighting his achievements in the game.

The Scot has made a total of 697 appearances in the Premier League during his career.

The figure is only surpassed by Arsène Wenger and Ferguson.
