DAVID MARCUS: Mayor Adams says the world’s greatest city will be destroyed by the migrant crisis… after HE fought to make New York an immigrant sanctuary. Yet all those who warned him were trashed as racists!

I almost felt sorry for Mayor Eric Adams last week when he lamented piteously about the coming destruction of New York City caused by President Biden’s spiraling migrant crisis.

Almost.

Sympathy would have been greater if Adams, and frankly almost every American politician with a D after their name, had not spent years embracing and perpetuating the misguided policies that created this mess, while simultaneously silencing anyone who dared to speak out against them to pronounce.

Here’s what a defeated Adams told the citizens of Gotham on Wednesday: “Never in my life have I had a problem that I couldn’t see an end to. I don’t see an end to this… This issue will destroy New York City.”

Couldn’t destroy. Cannot destroy. Shall destroy.

What a difference two years can make. Adams campaigned in 2021, promising to maintain New York’s “sanctuary city” status.

“We must protect our immigrants. Period,’ he said then. Now he wants them gone.

Adams has been demanding action from the federal government for several months as more than 110,000 migrants have flooded the streets of the Big Apple and the tent cities of Bidenville have spread over the past year.

But this time he sounded more desperate. This was a despicable surrender.

Can you blame him? The largest, most powerful city in the history of the world, a truly modern Rome – that He has been tasked with defending – is now on the brink of destruction.

Fiery protests erupted on Staten Island in recent days as hundreds of desperate residents reached boiling point over their disappearing safe haven for commuters. Space is quickly running out: a former Catholic school and even nursing homes are being converted into asylum homes.

It’s the same story in Manhattan. Parks are littered with makeshift shelters. Fancy hotels are now closed to public use and have been transformed into towering temples of failure.

Outside the Roosevelt Hotel, across from Grand Central Station, dozens of men line the sidewalk, sleeping on cardboard and under sleeping bags. Even this establishment with a thousand rooms cannot stop the influx.

At least 41 people have been arrested at the Roosevelt in recent months, largely for domestic violence. One victim was 11 years old.

In Brooklyn, great public schools are bursting at the seams. New York’s beleaguered education system has hired some 21,000 new immigrant students this year alone. Many are not vaccinated. Most don’t speak English. The Ministry of Education’s solution? Schools should just do it and hire a translator.

Violent crime is skyrocketing. The posh neighborhood streets are covered in feces and garbage. Subway stations are now replacing homeless shelters and mental institutions. Young families prefer not to walk outside in the dark.

This farce has cost the Adams administration $3.6 billion this fiscal year. The bill could reach $12 billion by 2025. Still, the Biden White House has sent a paltry $140 million to soften the blow.

No wonder Adams on Saturday ordered all city departments — including the police and fire departments — to cut their spending by 15 percent before next spring.

It’s a depressing acceptance of defeat that will only worsen the cycle of crime and misery, with even fewer public services and support for local taxpaying residents.

So it is now clear: Biden’s freeze on Trump-era Title 42 deportation policies in May has been more disastrous than experts and commentators, including myself, predicted.

The figures are truly staggering: in August alone, more than 177,000 people crossing from Mexico were arrested.

Earlier this year, leaders of Red Southern states, such as Texas Governor Greg Abbott, warned that ending Title 42 would mean busing migrants north to spread the burden.

Adams pulled the racism card and accused Abbott and Co of targeting ‘black-run cities’. But the truth is, they just wanted to give Democratic-run cities a taste of their own toxic open-border medicine.

And it worked.

Last month, leaders of 100 top New York companies, including powerhouses like Pfizer and JPMorgan, signed an extraordinary letter calling on Biden to end the “overwhelming” and growing “crisis” and “take immediate action to better control the border ‘.

Yet these are the same arrogant elites who have spent the past decade promoting corporate progressivism, pushing “diversity, equity, and inclusion” agendas, waving pride flags, spewing platitudes about the climate crisis, and undoubtedly helping to breed the type of everyday American to silence. who dares to ask whether unfettered immigration is anything other than a positive thing?

Mayor Adams is no better.

So it’s less that I told you, and more too little too late.

And it is the same everywhere in our once great country. Chicago, San Francisco, Washington. Bastions of American supremacy have been brought down by the Democrats’ incompetence.

At least 41 people have been arrested at the Roosevelt in recent months, largely for domestic violence. One victim was 11 years old.

Not that they’ll ever admit it. Not that they will ever apologize to the well-meaning men and women who, as a matter of patriotic duty, warned that mass, uncontrolled immigration will lead to greater racial division, not inclusion, that it will worsen everyone’s living standards, and that public services will be extended to the limit. point.

Because of their problems, they were dismissed as racists of the highest order. Dirty bigots. Harbingers of hatred.

But the left never learns. After Adams’ speech warning of the coming destruction of New York, painfully liberal Senator Jessica Ramos branded him “defeatist and insulting” and chided him for “encouraging xenophobic and anti-immigrant rhetoric.”

Naturally, her own solutions for the city’s survival failed to materialize. “NYC cannot be destroyed,” she said simply.

What little moral courage it takes to stare into the face of a self-inflicted disaster and cover your eyes while pointing elsewhere to blame.

But that’s the America we live in now: a nation run by lunatics, descending into madness, with the problem solvers being told that they are the problem.
