The last Supper! David ‘Kochie’ Koch eats an egg and bacon sandwich and breaks down in tears on his last day hosting Sunrise for 21 years
Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch was treated to a special breakfast on his very last day as breakfast show host.
The TV veteran, who has been the face of the top-rated morning show for 21 years, was spotted eating a tasty egg and bacon sandwich between takes, before washing it down with a milky coffee.
Kochie leaned over the news desk as he chewed on a sandwich to avoid getting food on his spotless suit.
The 67-year-old’s final day got off to a hilarious start, with Sam Mac taking a pot shot at the departing host.

During his weather segment, Mac pointed out that Sunrise’s offices were almost completely empty for Koch’s farewell.
“Very exciting day, emotional, a true testament to how much you are loved, Kochie, looking at all the staff here,” Mac joked as the camera panned through the darkened office.
The sledding didn’t stop there, as Mac pointed out a hilarious sign on the door of Koch’s office.
‘Olympians Only’ was written on the sign, a nod to the fact that the 67-year-old would be replaced by Olympic sprinter Matt Shirvington.

“This is your office, or it was, someone already took it over,” Mac said before leading the camera crew into the room.
Inside, the word “SHIRVONATOR” was plastered on the wall.
Among them were several of Shirvington’s famous magazine covers over the years, including one of the former Olympians riding a horse in his underwear.

‘The weekend newspaper said that the publicity tried to bury that [image] from him,” said a smiling Natalie Barr.
On a desk lay a “to-do” list supposedly written by Shirvington himself.
One of the points on the whiteboard read, “Do we need again????”
“Yes, Matt,” Mac joked.
“Thanks to the man, he moves fast and well,” said the weatherman.

Kochie surprised his colleagues on Monday when he announced his resignation from the popular breakfast show after 21 years.
During his on air announcement, Natalie looked heartbroken when Kochie said he had spent more time with her than with members of his own family in recent years.
He said he left the hit show to focus on his own business and enjoy more flexible work hours to spend time with his growing family.
Kochie joined Sunrise in 2002 to present financial reports and in October of that year became Chris Reason’s replacement when the journalist was diagnosed with cancer.
Matt Shirvington, 44, who will replace Kochie, said he had ‘mixed feelings’ about the new gig.
