David ‘Kochie’ Koch reveals what life after Sunrise is really like and whether Matt ‘Shirvo’ Shirvington is living up to his legacy… as he cringes over fans drooling over his hot son Alexander
David 'Kochie' Koch has dished on life after Sunrise following his departure from the show after 21 years, revealing he still enjoys 'waking up' to the program every morning.
Speaking to Ny Breaking Australia at the Virgin Voyages event on Tuesday night, the TV veteran also spoke about how well Matt 'Shirvo' Shirvington has replaced him.
But the former breakfast presenter, 67, revealed the best part of focusing on his family business's interest in Pinstripe Media is working regular 'office hours'.
'It is awesome. I now just work office hours and can do many different things,” he told DMA.
“When I worked at Sunrise I would finish there mid-morning and then go to Barangaroo to do the family business. So now I just work in the family business.'

When asked how he thinks Shirvo has taken on the role of co-anchor alongside his former colleague Natalie Barr, Kochie had nothing but praise for the Olympic athlete.
'He's doing very well. “We knew Matt was going to take over about two or three years ago and he was going to take my place,” he said.
“Matt is just a great guy. I have a wonderful family. I like his enthusiasm. He brings with him a kind of elite athlete mentality. He always wants to learn.'

The Channel Seven veteran went on to say that he still has lunch 'regularly' and catches up with Shirvo and Nat.
Moments before, Kochie also revealed how he really feels about all the attention his son Alexander 'AJ' Koch has been getting lately for his good looks.
The financial guru joked that his only son, 35, was getting “grief” from his three sisters Samantha, 42, Bree, 38, and Georgina, 32, because of all the female attention.

“There's a lot of sadness, and so are his friends, and he's never been able to process it, so thank you for that,” Kochie laughed.
He added that Alexander's “beautiful wife” Carrie, whom he married in an intimate ceremony in 2018, “just rolls her eyes” when he “gets a big head over it.”
AJ, the spitting image of his famous father, is just as business savvy, although he prefers working behind the scenes to in front of the camera.
He spent twelve years as managing director for Kochie-founded Pinstripe Media, a popular financial publisher and content agency.
