David Harbour has revealed his wife Lily Allen’s most annoying habit and why he decided he wanted to get married on their third date.
The 49-year-old actor, who plays Jim Hopper on the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, said the 39-year-old singer had a “unique” strange pet peeve, such as staying in a room with her when he had other things to do, but then not speaking to him.
David said, ‘She does this all the time. She’s downstairs in the kitchen, maybe cooking or doing something, and I’m trying to live my life, doing all sorts of things, and then she calls me into the kitchen.
‘And then for some reason it’s like, “David, David, do we have any cheese?”
‘I (go to the kitchen) and say, “Yeah, here’s cheese.” And then she says, “Where are you going?”

‘She just looks at me disappointed that I’m going to go about my day, so I sit at the kitchen table, but she doesn’t want to talk or communicate.
“She just wants me to be there.”
When asked by Lily’s best friend Miquita Oliver why he thought his wife did it, Harbour told the Miss Me? podcast, “I know exactly why, but it’s a deeply psychological thing.”
He then said, “This is one of those moments where my wife says, ‘Don’t tell too much,'” but added, “She just likes having people in the room with her.
“I think she really appreciates it, but she just doesn’t want to interact with it directly. She really does appreciate it.”
Miquita said Lily once told her that she was having dinner with David after a few days of vacation when the conversation abruptly stopped, at which point he said, “I’m scared, are we okay? I feel like we have nothing to say to each other.”
Lily replied, “No, that’s exactly what I want, just you and me, you don’t even have to talk to me, you just have to be here.”
David admitted that he and Lily can be very different when he said, “I thought, ‘Let’s dive in,’ let’s talk about the universe and what we’re supposed to be doing here.’ It’s very ying and yang.”
Despite his complaining, David revealed his love for Lily and told how he had decided on their third date that she was the one he wanted to marry.

He added that she needs us ‘quiet, close and quiet so she can concentrate on what she’s doing – very annoying’.

“We just had a conversation and there was something about that generosity and that idea of partnership. I’ve been in love before, I’ve been in relationships before, and there’s something about the idea of a trusting relationship where you really care about the well-being of another person.
‘I had already experienced aspects of it, but at that moment, on our third date, I felt like, ‘Wow, this is someone who can count on me, and I can count on her. ‘
‘I don’t know, there was just something really profound about it. And I thought, ‘Wow, this is really true.’
The couple began their relationship in 2019 and married the following year in an Elvis Presley impersonator wedding in Las Vegas.
