David Harbor gave Stranger Things fans some hope on Thursday after he teased a return to filming the sci-fi series at the BoxLunch Gala in Los Angeles.
Now that the SAG-AFTRA strike is over, the 48-year-old actor confirmed he would be back on set for the highly anticipated final season of the Netflix hit, in which he plays beloved police chief Jim Hopper.
“I mean, we have to film that final season of Stranger Things, right? I have to be there in a few days. We have to get to work – we are too late,” he said when asked about his plans after news of the end of the strike Variety.
The actor added that within 24 hours of the strike ending, he “received a lot of calls” to complete his regular schedule.
‘We still have a while to film and edit, but we’re going to work as hard and fast as we can to get it to people because I know they love the show as much as we do and I can’t wait until they get to see what’s going to happen next, it’s really exciting stuff,” he continued per The Hollywood Reporter. ‘The scripts are great.’

He added: ‘I feel like a horse getting ready and the gates are about to open, there’s a whole drive and a whole passion to do it.’
Filming on the final season of the Duffer Brothers’ hit Netflix series was halted in May due to the outbreak of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
At the gala, Harbor admitted that the strike had been “very tough,” according to THR.
‘I think psychologically there is a part of me that processes the world through my work, through acting; I like it so much and I haven’t succeeded yet and it’s driving me a little crazy; he explained.
Harbour’s portrayal of Hopper became a fan favorite for combining a gruff attitude with a hidden tenderness.
“I just love that show and I love that (Jim Hopper) character so much; it’s the final season and I’m looking forward to diving wholeheartedly into this man who, certainly career-wise, has made a huge difference in my life, but personally the character in film and TV has been who I am. what I loved most, what I fell in love with,” he added at the gala.
“I’m excited to give him the final I’ve wanted for him since we started. I just love it so much, I can’t wait to pour my heart into it.’
Even as Stranger Things nears its conclusion, Lily Allen’s husband expressed his reluctance to fully relinquish his character, revealing what parts of Hopper he hopes to carry with him.
‘I hope not his broken inability to express his emotions directly… But certainly his strength, his courage, his dedication. His powerful love for his family, and for right and wrong – his ideas about justice,” he said.
Netflix has not yet confirmed a release date for the fifth season of Stranger Things.
