David Duchovny hoped to reprise Sex And The City role as Carrie Bradshaw’s high school sweetheart before HBO series ended: ‘I would’ve loved to have done more’

David Duchovny opens up about a missed opportunity regarding the reprisal for his role as Jeremy, Carrie Bradshaw’s high school sweetheart, in Sex And The City.

While promoting his new Fail Better podcast, which is all about “learning from failures and how they shape our lives,” the Californication star, 63, revealed he wished he could have returned to the hit HBO series for more episodes.

Duchovny appeared in the season six episode entitled Boy, Interrupted, which aired in August 2003.

In it, the two old flames take steps to rekindle their romance when Jeremy drops a bombshell on Carrie and tells her he’s checking himself into a mental institution.

At the time, there was talk of Duchovny reprising his role, but that never came to fruition before the show ended its six-season run in February 2004.

“We had talked about doing more, but in the end we never succeeded,” Duchovny, 63, said People. “I would have loved to do more of that show.”

Still, it’s his positive experience working on the series with Parker that fueled his desire to want to return for more episodes.

‘We really had an easy work rhythm straight away. I loved working with Sarah,” he said of his working relationship with the Sex And The City leading lady.

The New York City native has been able to work with a number of leading A-list ladies since bursting onto the Hollywood scene in the 1980s, including Minnie Driver in the romantic comedy Return To Me (2000).

‘I loved working with Minnie. She has a big heart,” he said of the British actress as he reflected on his decades-long career.

He also added his Californication love interest Natascha McElhone to the list, calling her “the heart of that show, which ran for seven seasons on Showtime from 2007 to 2014.”

Duchovny also praised longtime romcom queen Meg Ryan after working with her in What Happens Later (2023).
