David de Gea is considering retirement as he reportedly struggles to find a new club, although the goalkeeper is determined to remain a No.1.

Former Manchester United and Spain stopper De Gea has rejected several approaches this summer after his 12-year spell at Old Trafford came to an end.

However, he has kept himself sharp during individual training and is actively looking for a new team, albeit one that would consider him their first choice.

The guard claim that several bids from Saudi Arabia have been rejected because money is not the main motivation behind the 32-year-old’s potential next move.

Despite being released by United at the end of last season, De Gea would prefer to play for a team that can aim for big trophies this season.

He has recently been linked with a move to Real Betis or Valencia in LaLiga, but neither move has materialised. Potential interest from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich also fell away, leaving the goalkeeper as a free agent.

De Gea was awarded the Premier League’s Golden Glove award in the 2022-23 season after an excellent campaign between the sticks, having kept 17 clean sheets in the top flight.

However, this was not enough to earn him a contract extension as the club, seemingly under the management of Erik ten Hag, refused to renew his deal.

His departure paved the way for Andre Onana to join from Inter Milan and he remains the Red Devils’ new No. 1 despite his shaky start in England.

De Gea is believed to be disappointed with the way he abruptly parted ways with United after more than a decade of service after the club offered him lower terms.

Talks between the two parties had progressed at the end of last season, but broke down in July, meaning De Gea could not say goodbye to the supporters.

According to The sunThe United team was also frustrated by De Gea’s treatment.

It is understood there was unrest among the players over the manner in which he was released, especially in light of De Gea being popular in the dressing room.

De Gea seemingly expressed his anger at the situation when he posted a circus emoji on Twitter, now X, after United suddenly reversed his contract.

He later insisted that despite the rescinded offer, he was “looking for a new challenge.”

During his time at United, De Gea won the Premier League, FA Cup, two League Cups and the Europa League and made himself a firm favorite among the fanbase.
