David de Gea ‘AGREES to new Manchester United deal’ despite patchy form this season

Dave STAY! De Gea ‘agrees’ to a new contract with Manchester United for less than his current wage of £350,000 a week…

The Manchester United goalkeeper has agreed a contract extension with the club and is expected to sign soon have said.

The 32-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of the season, although United have the option to add a further 12 months.

His form has been mixed this season. Nobody has clean sheets in the Premier League anymore, but he has made some mistakes.

All three of United’s goals conceded in the second leg of United’s Europa League quarter-final tie with Sevilla came from Gea’s errors, while their recent 1-0 defeat to West Ham also stemmed from a goalkeeping error.

Erik ten Hag, however, would like to keep the Spaniard, the newspaper reports the Telegraph claiming that he has agreed on the terms of a new deal, which is expected to be announced once all parties have signed.

United would not have used the extension in De Gea’s original contract as it meant he would keep his salary of £350,000 a week.

He would have taken a significant pay cut in exchange for a longer contract.

More to follow.
