David De Gea admits Casemiro’s suspension is a ‘big loss’ and ‘could make the difference against Arsenal’ this weekend as the Spaniard complains about having to play a game in the middle of the week before the crucial clash .

  • The Spaniard believes that Casemiro’s suspension will affect his team on Sunday
  • Casemiro needed to avoid a booking at Selhurst Park, but couldn’t help it
  • He brought down Wilfried Zaha in a cynical challenge in the 79th minute up 1-0
  • United conceded in stoppage time before De Gea complained about the scheduling

David De Gea believes Manchester United’s 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace could play a decisive factor in the result against Arsenal on Sunday, with midfielder Casemiro now suspended.

The Brazilian arrived at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night knowing he needed to avoid a booking to play Arsenal at the weekend.

Such is the importance of Casemiro, that there was a lot of speculation about whether he should have been left out of the team during the week.

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro will miss the big game against Arsenal on Sunday.

“It’s a big blow to lose Casemiro for Sunday,” De Gea told Sky Sports. “I don’t understand why Arsenal don’t play as we have to play in the same week and they don’t.” Now we are missing one of our best players.

‘I don’t understand. Now we miss him for a big game and it’s a big loss for us.”

De Gea turned in a brilliant performance in goal as he looked to have secured all three points for United, which would have moved them within six points of leaders Arsenal before Sunday.

De Gea had a very positive night, but was defeated in the 91st minute by an impressive free-kick.

Instead, Michael Olise stepped up to take a stunning stoppage-time free kick, which smashed off the crossbar and into the Spaniard’s net.

“It’s football,” he said of the disappointing end result. ‘Sometimes you score last and other times they score last. Let’s keep going.

“I think we’re doing very well and it’s a great game on Sunday. I think we are a much better team than we were before.

United will consider themselves disappointed that they did not close the gap on leaders Arsenal

We are competing very well, deserving the points, playing as a team, which is huge. Everyone wants to win, everyone wants to fight for the team.

“It’s nice to see and it was a bit sad today because we conceded at the end, but I still believe in this team.” I think we have great players, we all want to win, so let’s keep going.”

Now Manchester United are eight behind having played an extra game, and with just four days to recover before facing the rejuvenated Gunners, who last played at Tottenham on Sunday.

The Gunners didn’t play in midweek and should be well rested ahead of Man United’s visit
