David Beckham tucks into pie and mash from his favourite London cafe while spending quality time with his mum Sandra

David Beckham was back at his old spot on Thursday as he spent quality time with his mother Sandra.

The former footballer, 48, looked happy as he tucked into a plate of pie and mash, topped with a ladleful of liquor sauce – a traditional Cockney dish dating back to the 19th century.

David shared a short photo showing the meal was delivered from Tony's Pie & Mash shop in Waltham Abbey, just outside his home town of Leytonstone.

On Instagram he shared a photo of the van and wrote: 'Late arriving'

The retired sportsman has previously shared photos with cafe owner Tony and his staff, and also posed with mum Sandra outside the cafe entrance.

It comes after David showed on Thursday he is still willing to get his hands dirty when he got to work washing the dishes with his mum Sandra.

He shared a series of sweet snaps on Instagram of himself washing dishes in her kitchen with his mother, 74.

The mother and son duo shared a quick laugh, while David also took a heartwarming selfie.

The pair ate a lunch of ham, egg and chips while they were joined by David's younger sister, Joanne Louise, his wife Victoria and their youngest children, Cruz and Harper.

Captioning the photos, David captioned his sister for not helping with the dishes, writing: “Lunch with mom then the dishes with a few laughs love you mom @sandra_beckham49 @jo_jo_beckham_ who didn't do the dishes SHOCKER chips were ok tho ' .

It comes after David and Victoria, 49, got into the festive spirit on Sunday as they posed with Santa Claus after he visited their sprawling country home.

Their sons Romeo, 21, and Cruz, 18, also had their photo taken with Santa, as did their daughter Harper, 12.

Meanwhile, eldest son Brooklyn, 24, and wife Nicola, 28, spent the season with her billionaire family in Palm Springs.

The couple put on matching silk pajamas, laid out a lavish buffet and opened presents.

Former Spice Girl Victoria also shared a Christmas card from her brood on the social media site.

All four of David and Victoria's children could be seen arm in arm, while a message underneath read: “HAPPY CHRISTMAS.” Love and kisses. David, Victoria, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz & Harper.'

For Christmas, Victoria treated her husband to a chicken coop and a flock of birds and shared a video of David enjoying his gift as she made a very cheeky joke.

She took to her Instagram as her other half fed the animals, complete with a Santa hat on his head.

Then she joked, “There's a really huge cock in there too!” before calling their new feathered friends “camera shy.”

And on Tuesday, she shared an update on the coop as Cruz tried to catch one but failed miserably.
