David Beckham shocks fans with ‘swollen’ face on NBC’s Today Show: ‘He’s in decline, horrible’

David Beckham’s appearance has come under atypical scrutiny after viewers claimed the Today Show football legend had a ‘puffy’ face.

Beckham, 49, was a special guest on Wednesday’s edition of the daily NBC program, where he discussed a wide range of topics; including the devastating Los Angeles wildfires and his Emmy win for the hit Netflix docuseries about his life and career.

Yet his latest TV appearance has left fans baffled, with many accusing the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star of looking slightly bloated.

Beckham’s ‘swollen’ appearance was brutally analyzed on Spanish TV show ‘La Sexta’ after presenter Alfonso Arus said he looked ‘slightly puffy’ than normal.

Members of the panel claimed that this may have been due to cosmetic surgery, although there has not been any confirmation of Beckham having plastic surgery lately.

“It’s true that sometimes the swelling should go away when you undergo a cosmetic side effect,” says employee Tatiana Arus.

However, commentator Patricia Benitez’s assessment was even sharper: “He is in decline, terrible,” said Benitez.

Beckham, who has had a long and successful modeling career dating back to his early years as a footballer, also appeared to have “trouble laughing” during the show, Angie Cardenas added to La Sexta.

“It’s true that he seems to have trouble smiling because he can’t move the muscles in his face,” she said.

“He looks a bit strange… Maybe the lighting on set isn’t optimal.”

Beckham transcended football during his storied career after entering the fashion and modeling world with ex-pop star wife Victoria.

Since retiring from playing, the former England captain has ventured into co-founding MLS team Inter Miami.

He also enjoyed a brief stint in Los Angeles, where his son Brooklyn, 25, still lives with wife Nicola Peltz.

But after his appearance on Today, viewers are speculating that Beckham has undergone cosmetic surgery

David confirmed that Brooklyn was safe today following the deadly wildfires that destroyed thousands of homes and killed 25 people in the LA area last week.

But he added: “It’s devastating, we have a big heart that’s still in Los Angeles and of course, to see everything that’s happening there, we’re just sending our love and thoughts to everyone affected by what’s going on the hand is.’

“I’ve always said America is the land of opportunity, and LA has incredible opportunity and the spirit they have there, they will come back stronger, but it will take time.

“We send our love and thoughts to everyone affected by this devastating situation.”
