With his Inter Miami team’s competitive season at an end after missing out on a spot in the MLS play-offs, David Beckham is making the most of his time off in Europe.

On Tuesday he was seen back at San Siro, home of his former club AC Milan, which hosted Paris Saint-Germain, another of Beckham’s former employers, in the Champions League.

Although he spent most of his playing career at Manchester United – and after spells at Real Madrid and LA Galaxy – Beckham spent the final years of his famous career on loan at AC Milan and then PSG, where he eventually retired.

And the 48-year-old couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see them face each other in Italy on Tuesday.

Cameras picked up the Inter Miami co-owner apparently on a FaceTime call with a loved one on the side of the pitch.

He led Henry, who usually appears alongside Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards in CBS’s coverage of Europe’s leading competition, to say hello to whoever was on the other end of the line.

Referring to Beckham, Henry said: “The big man. In his old stadium, watching both his teams.’

After exchanging greetings, Henry urged Beckham to predict who would win the match between his former clubs.

But Beckham refused to back one or the other and insisted he hoped it would be a draw as both teams looked for points in their bid to reach the knockout stages.

Beckham played 33 games for AC Milan, spread over two loan periods. The first was in January 2009 during the MLS off-season, before he rejoined them a year later as he sought to maximize his chances of making the England squad for the World Cup in South Africa.

Then, after winning the MLS Cup in 2012, Beckham left LA Galaxy to return to Europe and sign a short-term contract with PSG. He played just fourteen games before retiring at the end of the 2012–13 season.

Now charting Inter Miami’s path to MLS glory as co-owner, he helped lure Lionel Messi to Florida this season and saw them win the Leagues Cup for their first-ever trophy.

Earlier on Tuesday, Beckham wished friend and former Inter Miami coach Phil Neville the best of luck in his new role with the Portland Timbers, five months after firing his old teammate in South Florida.

“Congratulations mate and good luck,” read the Instagram caption written by Beckham.

With Inter Miami in last place in June, Neville was fired midway through his third season as coach of Beckham’s MLS team. Marcel was 35-42-13 at Inter Miami.
