David Beckham joined by Inter Miami’s entire staff in Nashville as he watches Lionel Messi and co. in Leagues Cup final
Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham watched as his MLS side lifted their first-ever Leagues Cup final trophy on Saturday night.
Lionel Messi wanted to continue his Miami magic and lead the American football club to victory against Nashville in Music City.
The World Cup winner has inspired Inter Miami to the final with nine goals in six games since arriving a month ago and will look to take them a step further by lifting their first trophy.
And co-owner Beckham was on hand to watch his team’s quest for the first title.
The former England captain revealed to Apple TV that the club had made sure all staff were there for the special night.

He also claimed that Inter’s signings, including Messi and his former Barcelona teammates Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, had influenced not only the club but all of football in the United States.
“We always knew that signing this kind of player would change not only the face of our club, but the game in this country and that’s exactly what it has done,” Beckham said in the pregame broadcast.
“The fact that they came in the way they came in, they performed, but more importantly, they are players of the people and you can feel it. People in Miami, people in the US can feel how humble they are, how hard they work and also what they want to do for this game in this country.
“This is such a special night, we have our whole family, our whole staff here because we are a family, that’s what we’ve always been since day one.” To celebrate tonight with our family, our staff, our friends, it’s a very special night, and to do it here in Nashville, such a special franchise, great fans.”
Beckham was also joined by co-owner Jorge Mas, who praised the team’s journey to the Finals as a “real Miami story.”
“It’s a great reward for three years of hard work,” he said. “The culmination of a dream that we started from scratch. It was a blank canvas. And tonight, with Nashville joining us in the league in 2020, to have the chance to take the league cup, the trophy of the best team in North America with the addition of the stars, and with our staff here, with the supporters here, this is a real Miami story.
‘This is a gift to our city and we will continue to build something very special in the future.’
The pair posed for a photo with rival owner and NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo, who co-owns Nashville.

Beckham was unable to attend Miami’s 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Union on the road, but he celebrated the win on social media.
Another great night in pink. What a moment for OUR team, OUR fans, OUR club. First final in our history, SO PROUD,” Beckham wrote, underlining his post with some pink and black hearts as a tribute to the team colours.
Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, also stayed at home, but after the victory was confirmed, she shared her husband’s post on social media congratulating his team with three “strong arm” emojis.
The stars have all appeared during Inter Miami’s Leagues Cup trip to catch a glimpse of Messi.
The likes of Lebron James, Serena Williams and Derek Jeter have all attended Miami’s games on their way to the finals.
Beckham’s daughter Harper even played a part in the club’s quarter-final against Charlotte.
Messi was escorted onto the pitch by Harper before the game got underway.
