David Beckham took to social media to express his pride after Lionel Messi led Inter Miami to the team’s first-ever cup final this weekend.

Messi scored a stunning 35th goal as Inter Miami won 4-1 on their way to Philadelphia Union to reach the Leagues Cup final – Josef Martinez, Jordi Alba and David Ruiz were also on the scoresheet.

Miami co-owner David Beckham was absent Tuesday night, but his mind was only on one place after his team recorded a famous and impressive win.

Another great night in pink. What a moment for OUR team, OUR fans, OUR club. First final in our history, SO PROUD,” Beckham wrote, underlining his post with some pink and black hearts as a tribute to the team colours.

Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, also stayed at home, but after the victory was confirmed, she shared her husband’s post on social media congratulating his team with three “strong arm” emojis.

For Messi himself, his goal in Tuesday’s win takes his Miami tally to an incredible nine after just six appearances for his new team.

And he will lead his team to Nashville for Saturday’s Finals for the first time since moving to Music City from Major League Soccer.

Nashville made it to the final with a 2-0 victory over Mexico’s Monterrey at Geodis Park.

Sam Surridge broke the deadlock in the 67th minute and amid a thrilling finish, Fafa Picault scored in the sixth minute of added time to send Nashville into the final.

It was a heady atmosphere at Geodis Park for the semi-finals and Nashville will need that and more if they want to deny Messi and Miami.

One could imagine that Beckham and Antonela will make the journey for Messi and Miami’s first final on Saturday night.
