A modern love story! David and Candice Warner celebrate their eighth wedding anniversary – 10 years after she slipped into his DMs and they started dating

It’s a modern love story that started 10 years ago with a flirty Twitter exchange.

And now sports power couple David and Candice Warner are celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary, and both of them posted adorable tributes to each other online on Tuesday.

In 2013, Ironwoman Candice contacted cricketer David online and two years later, they tied the knot on April 4 at the Terrara House Estate winery on the south coast of New South Wales.

Candice, 37, and David, 36, have three children together: Ivy Mae, 8, Indi Rae, 7, and Isla Rose, 3.

The couple still seems to be very much in love as they shared their sweet messages with each other publicly on Instagram.

Alongside a carousel of old and new photos of himself and his wife, David wrote, “8 years have flown; Happy birthday, my dear.

“Thank you for always being there for me and always showing me your love and support. I’m a lucky man to have you in my life.’

Candice also shared several happy snaps of them on her Instagram page.

She wrote in her caption, “Married 8 years and a lifetime to go. Happy birthday @davidwarner31 you are everything. I ❤️ you.’

The former Ironwoman previously said the pair actually grew up “about 500 yards apart” but didn’t know each other.

Speaking on Jana Hocking’s Kinda sorta Dating podcast in 2021, Candice revealed that they first met at a Bondi hotel after she ran the City2Surf marathon, but she said David was rude to her at the time.

Their romance is a pretty modern love story as they actually started dating after Candice slipped into his Twitter DMs

“We met maybe a few years before we got together,” Candice said.

“He had a girlfriend and I just finished the City2Surf… I said to our mutual friend, “God, he’s not very friendly!”

“I didn’t want anything from him, we just said hello because we were from the area and he was kind of arrogant and rude and I was like ‘whatever.

She said she saw him on a TV show years later and “slipped into his DMs” on Twitter.

“I wasn’t interested at all and I remember seeing something about him on Foxtel or something… and I messaged him on Twitter… It was 2013. We just started chatting and it went from there .’
