Dave the Diver’s wholesome fishing to meet Dredge’s sinister horror in new crossover
Feel-good RPG for fishing and restaurant management Dave the diver gets an eldritch crossover with the creepy nautical exploration game Dredging.
A free DLC will be released on December 15 Dave the diverwhere players can explore new depths and discover exclusive content from the fantastic world of Dredging” (via Eurogamer).
Mintrocket, the developer behind Dave the diver, further explained what exactly we can expect. “This epic crossover combines the immersive worlds of ocean exploration and exciting fishing adventures, where you can encounter unique aberrations and characters!”
A trailer has appeared on the official Mintrocket YouTube channel, which you can see below. The trailer features some creepy dives, mysterious figures entering the restaurant, and plenty of ominous fog.
Dredgingdeveloped by Black Salt Games, has a very different tone than Dave the diver. While the latter is a wholesome, slice-of-life affair, the former has a creepy undertone that wouldn't be out of place in an HP Lovecraft book.
According to his Steam pagethe game has a 'sinister undercurrent', inviting you to 'explore a mysterious archipelago and discover why some things are best forgotten'.
In the meantime, Dave the diver's Steam page promises a “casual, adventure single-player RPG” full of “eccentric characters with a light-hearted story.” To say that these themes contrast may be an understatement. But considering Mintrocket's next project is a zombie survival game, this turn toward disturbing horror may not be as unexpected as you might think.
But while Dredging And Dave the diver may have their differences, both lean heavily on these themes of exploration and secrets, suggesting this crossover could work surprisingly well. We look forward to seeing the update for ourselves on December 15th.
