Dave Portnoy slams ‘worst call of all time’ after watching the Commanders secure last-gasp playoff win

The Commanders narrowly defeated the Buccaneers in their Wild Card game on Sunday night — and Barstool boss Dave Portnoy didn’t believe Washington’s team sendoff lived up to the moment.

Kicker Zane Gonzalez scored a 37-yard field goal as time expired to give the visitors the win, although it was far from easy as his kick hit the inside of the upright before going in.

The announcers for commanders Bram Weinstein and London Fletcher made no mention of this, as they reacted giddily to the victory, and Portnoy ripped them as a result.

“Is this the worst big game call ever?” He said on X in response to a snippet of the call. ‘They made it sound like Zane had smashed it in the middle. I didn’t even mention the doink. F minus call.”

According to Portnoy, color man Weinstein merely stated that the kick was “good” before commenting on the team’s composure in close games.

‘The heart commanders are the link commanders. If they do it again, we’ll see you in Detroit,” he said.

Fletcher, who enjoyed a long NFL career at linebacker and played seven years at Washington, also chimed in but did not say how the kick actually landed.

“Zane Gonzalez is kicking down the door and kicking us into the second round of the playoffs!” he said.

Meanwhile, Mike Tirico made sure to mention the upright’s doink call of the game on NBC.

“They’re making their way to the divisional round!” he exclaimed, after Cris Collinsworth could be heard laughing at the silly bit.

The Commanders travel to Detroit this weekend to take on the No. 1 seed Lions on Saturday.

Weinstein and Fletcher’s decision on Gonzalez’s game winner wasn’t the only thing that rattled Portnoy during the NFL’s Wild Card weekend.

Justin Herbert and the Chargers suffered a 32-12 loss to the Texans, and the quarterback had his worst game of the season as he completed just 43.8 percent of his passes and threw four interceptions. He had thrown just three picks the entire regular season.

“I’m so sick of Justin Herbert, people sucking his dick,” he said in a video on X. “It sounds like this kid is a young quarterback.”

“Go back to everything I said, he sucks. I don’t care what tools he has. What is the crush on this damn guy? He was bad in Oregon, the team got worse,” he continued.

“He would be the No. 1 draft pick [and] fell because people were looking at him and [said]“Hey, this guy can be fucking bad.”

Houston now faces the Chiefs on Saturday at 4:30 PM ET.
