Dave Portnoy rips Yankees in brutal 4am tweet after blowing 5-0 lead to lose World Series to Dodgers

Dave Portnoy woke up in the middle of the night to attack the New York Yankees after Aaron Judge’s team gave up a 5-0 lead and lost the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Things started so well for the Yankees: Aaron Judge returned to form with a home run on the first pitch he faced and Jazz Chisholm followed suit.

Giancarlo Stanton also homered as the Yankees raced to a 5-0 lead. At that point, Portnoy went to bed and missed New York’s fifth-inning meltdown.

Judge dropped a routine fly ball in center field — his first error all year — to set up the collapse before pitcher Gerrit Cole initially failed to cover Anthony Rizzo for what would have been an easy out for Mookie Betts to end the inning.

Anthony Volpe also threw the ball to Jazz Chisholm at third base when the out was at first base in an error-filled inning for the Yankees as the Dodgers cut themselves to 5-5.

It was a night to forget for Aaron Judge and his team, despite an excellent start in New York

The Yankees regained the lead, but the Dodgers were able to get it back again, winning a series-clinching game 8-7 at Yankee Stadium.

According to the time of his post on

“I just woke up and checked the Yankees score. They lost!!!!’ Portnoy wrote with 17 crying emojis. ‘How did they screw that up!

“I think I’d rather go 0-162 than make the playoffs and embarrass myself on a national stage like they did. Holy c***’.

He tweeted again in the morning: “I can’t believe Judge dropped a routine fly ball.

“I can’t believe Anthony Volpe threw a dirtball to third base. I can’t believe Cole didn’t cover first base. The Yankees are the new poster boys for futility. What a mighty fall from grace. From powerhouse to laughing stock.’

To his credit, Yankees captain Judge accepted that his mistake was costly in the fifth.

“You can’t give a good team that many extra outs,” Judge said. ‘It starts with me coming in there on the line drive. I played that wrong.

‘So that doesn’t happen, then I think we have a different story tonight. I just didn’t make the piece.’
