Dave Portnoy demands FBI investigation after agonizingly missing out on $370k windfall

Dave Portnoy has demanded an FBI investigation into the Washington Commanders and their running back Brian Robinson Jr. after he painfully missed out on a massive $370,000 payday on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday, the Barstool Sports chief announced to his social media followers that he had backed a daring parlay in the penultimate week of the NFL regular season.

Known for his high-stakes gambling, Portnoy predicted that Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts would score two or more touchdowns, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kenny Pickett would score and Robinson Jr. would score.

With odds of +3629, and Portnoy revealing his return would be around $370,000, that means he probably placed $10,000 on the bet.

Taylor and Pickett performed adequately for Portnoy in Sunday’s early series of games, leaving only Robinson Jr. came through in Washington’s primetime showdown against the Atlanta Falcons.

He passed for 60 yards on 13 carries and nine yards on two receptions, but failed to reach the end zone all night as the Commanders earned a dramatic 30-24 overtime victory.

To make matters even more painful for Portnoy, Robinson Jr.’s backup Chris Rodriguez Jr. scored. a rushing touchdown.

The breakdown of his call left Portnoy enraged, and he posted a video on social media demanding that the FBI investigate “everyone in Washington.”

He said: ‘[Rodriguez] has five damn carries all season. Robinson is completely healthy, smiling on the sidelines and we’re giving it to this damn guy?

“I want a federal investigation. I want everyone in Washington investigated. I want DraftKings investigated. I want Robinson investigated.

‘I want everyone with a good pulse, in-house, outhouse, parkhouse [investigated]. What the hell was that?’

Earlier, Portnoy filmed himself lying on the ground in despair as he watched Robinson Jr. tried to hit him into the end zone from three feet away.

The Commanders fell short on that play before Jayden Daniels nailed the next one, ending another promising opportunity for Portnoy to win.

Portnoy, 47, has described himself as a ‘degenerate gambler’ and admitted earlier on Sunday that he had been ‘cold’ – meaning he had not won for a while – as he revealed his picks for the week.

Portnoy once filed for bankruptcy but has since turned a profit professionally and routinely bets an exorbitant amount of money on sports.

Portnoy placed a $100,000 bet on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever to win the WNBA title in August, which would have paid him $10.1 million.

He also bet $1.1 million on the Celtics to win the NBA championship and $1 million on the Oilers to win the Stanley Cup, even getting by on Boston’s win and Edmonton’s loss.

Earlier this year, Portnoy pocketed $1.65 million after backing Scottie Scheffler to win the Masters.

He also bet $100,000 on Alabama to win the college football national championship, but they didn’t even make the twelve-team playoffs.
