Dave Portnoy calls Caitlin Clark Nike’s ‘greatest steal of ALL TIME’ for signing $28m shoe deal as he compares her to Tiger Woods and Serena Williams

Dave Portnoy has spoken about Caitlin Clark frequently over the past year, with his latest compliment calling the Indiana Fever star Nike’s “biggest bargain of all time” for signing her to a $28 million shoe deal.

The Barstool boss then went on to call Clark a “monster” with how well her shoe will do for Nike, and compared her to Tiger Woods and Serena Williams as a “game-changer” in the sport.

Portnoy also addressed why Nike hasn’t done much to promote Clark since she joined the company in the spring.

Not surprisingly, Portnoy doesn’t blame Clark’s actions for the lack of promotion.

“There’s been a lot of talk about Nike and how they haven’t really done anything with Caitlin Clark yet,” Portnoy said Wednesday. “Locking Caitlin Clark for the price they paid, I think it was $10 million (it’s actually eight years, $28 million), the biggest steal of all time.”

“There are rumors that Nike hasn’t done anything because of the toxicity that’s out there… and it’s not around Caitlin, Caitlin hasn’t done anything, they’re all idiots out there. Caitlin Clark is the golden goose. If Nike has Caitlin Clark, I love Nike.”

“This theory makes them afraid to do anything because of the reverse race baiting and all the toxicity, I don’t believe that, I don’t believe it.”

‘Her shoe becomes a monster, everything they do becomes a monster. Caitlin Clark is Serena Williams, Tiger Woods… she’s a game changer. Men, women, everything. No one can screw up Caitlin Clark.”

Clark has been at the forefront of women’s basketball’s rise in popularity, dating back to her junior season at Iowa last year.

The now Fever point guard appeared in the four highest-rated women’s basketball games of all time and then took her success to the WNBA, with the league setting several television records this season.

For other Clark merchandise: the Indiana Fever jersey sale have increased by almost 1,200 percent this year compared to the same point last season.
