Five-time Emmy winner Dave Chappelle sure surprised the audience Tuesday night at The Kia Forum in LA with his performance for the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert.

But instead of telling jokes, the 49-year-old controversial comedian decided to sing a karaoke-style cover of Radiohead’s 1992 song Creep with the Foo Fighters.

Chappelle encourages the audience to sing several lines of the self-loathing grunge song about a “weird” who “doesn’t belong here” and wishes he was “special.”

Another unannounced performance! Five-time Emmy winner Dave Chappelle sure surprised the audience Tuesday night at The Kia Forum in LA for the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert with his performance

The DC-born, Ohio-based father of three waved his cigarette in the air as he sang and when he finished, he dropped the mic and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl announced, “I didn’t see that one coming, you ?’

But it wasn’t the first time Dave performed the exact same song last year with the 15-time Grammy-winning rock band — including the late Taylor Hawkins — at Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden.

The six-hour concert in honor of the drummer — who overdosed on March 25 at age 50 — included his 16-year-old son Shane, who executed with Foo Fighters on Hero and I’ll Stick Around.

The ‘revolving door of rock heroes’ also featured Joan Jett, Travis Barker, Kesha, Miley Cyrus, Def Leppard, Pink, Heart, Queen, Chad Smith, Alanis Morissette, Jack Black, Rush, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Soundgarden, Metallica and Black Sabbath.

To remind? But it wasn’t the first time Dave performed the exact same song last year with the 15-time Grammy-winning rock band — including the late Taylor Hawkins — at Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden.

Dave’s performance at the second and final tribute to Taylor caused outrage from many on Twitter, who called him transphobic and said his recent surprise appearances were the equivalent of a “pop-up ad.”

Indeed, Chappelle calls himself “Team TERF” (trans-exclusionary radical feminist) and has consistently slammed the transgender community in his recent specials and live shows.

During his July 20 show at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis, the three-time Grammy winner called his protesters “transgender lunatics” and referred to monkeypox as a “gay disease” — according to the Star Stand.
