Daunte Wright’s victim – who was left paralyzed after he was shot in the head – dies

Paralyzed Daunte Wright’s victim dies 18 months after his attacker was killed by a Minneapolis cop.
Caleb Livingston, 19, died on Sunday, more than three years after being shot in the head by Wright at a gas station and left permanently disabled when he was 16.
He was diagnosed with a condition known as unresponsive wakefulness syndrome, which left him unable to walk, talk or take care of himself.
The family’s attorney, Mike Padden, told… Fox news that they will “amend our complaint to note that the case is a matter of culpable homicide as opposed to personal injury.”
“Clearly Caleb’s tragic death was caused by Daunte Wright’s criminal behavior,” the attorney said.
His mother Jennifer LeMay said her son’s passing was “very painful” and that her son’s tragedy “affected the whole family.”
Wright was killed by former cop Kim Potter in April 2021 after being apprehended and eventually fatally shot when he was 20 during a botched traffic stop.
The deadly shooting involving police had sparked angry demonstrations in suburban Minneapolis for several days and raised more than a million in a GoFundMe for him — for which baby mama is now suing his parents.
Potter threatened to drug him, but eventually she pulled out her gun. She was convicted of manslaughter in December and sentenced to 16 months.

More than six months after Wright shot his former boyfriend, he was charged by Osseo police with holding a gun to a woman’s head and asphyxiating her during an armed robbery.
Another man, Joshua Hodges, said Wright was at the crime scene when he was shot in the leg. The attacker and Wright then took off in his car.
Wright’s lawyer has branded it “character assassination.”
Through court files and interviews with the victims, DailyMail.com exclusively reported in December that Wright had led a life of crime and violence before his death.
‘He’s a bad person. Worse than a monster, a waste of space on Earth,” Jennifer LeMay told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview.
A lawsuit filed on behalf of her son in May 2021 described the fateful events that took place outside a Full Stop supermarket and gas station on May 14, 2019.
The documents stated that Wright “fired a firearm at Caleb and struck him in the head with a single bullet, resulting in severe disability and permanent injuries.
Doctors told his mother he had a slim chance of surviving the next 24-36 hours, but the teen miraculously survived after spending nearly seven months in the hospital.
According to LeMay, Wright shot Caleb in the front part of his head, with a bullet that tore to the other side of his skull, where he is still trapped.
“Daunte shot my son and let him die,” she said at the time. “During his hospitalization, Caleb died of his injuries almost six times.”

LeMay told DailyMail.com that her son was close friends with Wright at one point. She believes Wright shot Caleb as revenge after the two had a physical altercation two days earlier. (photo: Caleb before the shooting)
LeMay said the two boys were good friends at one point and Caleb had his first sleepover at Wright’s house when he was 13.
“The younger Daunte I knew was a pretty good boy. I’ve never seen red flags,” she said.
The couple eventually grew apart after Caleb and his mother moved to Chicago in 2018.
“Caleb was still in touch with his friend in Minneapolis. At that time, I started hearing things from my son about Daunte,” LeMay said. “He ran away from home and once he even spat on his father.”
Months later, Caleb was going back to Minneapolis to visit some relatives and was at the local gas station when Wright, terrified, shot him in the head.
LeMay said she had heard from people in the area that Daunte admitted to some friends that he had only intended to scare Caleb, but the gun fired “accidentally.”
“I don’t think you can just shoot anyone. I’m not buying it,” said the mother.
LeMay also said she later learned that the two had gotten into a physical fight a few days earlier and Caleb got the best of Daunte, leading her to believe the shooting was motivated by revenge.
Her son now suffers from traumatic brain injury and respiratory arrest, and is confined to a wheelchair. He cannot talk or walk and has limited movement in his limbs.
Wright had multiple clashes with the law prior to his death, and LeMay said he would either be captured, kill someone, or be killed.
‘Caleb needs 24/7/365 care, he can’t just eat, get dressed or basically do nothing. He needs constant attention,” LeMay said.
“He has to be lifted in and out of bed in his wheelchair. He has a service dog, a 12-year-old pit bull terrier named Ciroc who stays by his side most of the time.
“He’s going to be 19 in a few weeks, he should be going out and having fun, instead he’s confined to his bed and wheelchair.
“He’ll never date, he’ll never be able to have kids, drive a car, or probably never tell us he loves us again,” she said in tears.
“Daunte has not only changed Caleb’s life, but everyone around him,” LeMay added.
Wright was never arrested or charged with shooting Caleb.
Before Wright was killed, she said local police had told her they had no witnesses to who her son was shot.
LeMay was convinced after Wright’s death that her son would never get justice and said she was “insane.”

“I have mixed feelings about his death, part of me is content knowing he will never be able to hurt anyone again the way he did to my son and others.
“But then the other part is furious. When Kim Potter killed him, she took everything away to hold him criminally liable for what he did.
“Now there will never be justice for my child, my son does not deserve this kind of life,” she said in December.
She continued: “Daunte lived a lifestyle that was not long-lasting. He would either be captured, kill someone, or be murdered. His actions and behavior were unforgivable on every level.
‘You live by the sword, you die by the sword. How many more lives did he have to destroy? Karma is ab***h, isn’t it?’ she added.
However, LeMay admitted she feels sorry for the young man’s family for losing their child.
“But at least Daunte was able to give them a son to carry on his generation, something I’ll never see from mine,” she added.
