Daughter, 25, charged with murdering her mother, 44, at their Petersfield home

Police have charged a woman with the murder of her own mother.

Widow Anna Jones, 44, a mother of two, was found dead in her home shortly before officers took her eldest daughter Bronwyn into custody.

Neighbors said they heard screams when Jones, 25, was arrested outside her mother’s Edwardian flat.

A forensic tent was still standing outside the front window on the ground floor of Mrs Jones’ home yesterday, with a police car parked outside, following her death on Tuesday. Officers were called just before 8 p.m.

Jones, also known as Bron, describes himself as a computer gamer, ‘geek/nerd’, ‘strong and very intelligent’. She appeared before magistrates in Portsmouth this morning.

A neighbor at the crime scene in Petersfield, Hampshire, who did not wish to be identified, said: ‘We heard screaming in the street after it happened – from someone who seemed to realize what they had done.

“It was a major disruption, we were terrified. People living in the other flats in the same house had to move out for the night while the police investigated.”

Mrs. Jones, who has another 20-year-old daughter, Eliza-Jayne Jones, had lost her husband David several years ago.

She previously lived with Bronwyn in a house in Liss, four miles away, where neighbors say the adult daughter regularly slept in a tent in the front yard.

Last night, police said they found the body as soon as they arrived at the murder scene, close to the center of Petersfield.
