A daughter accused of stabbing her mother, the dinner lady, to death more than 30 times and filming the gory aftermath on her phone has admitted killing her but denies the murder.

Hanaa Bennis, 21, killed school dinner mistress Aziza Bennis, 58, at her home in Acton, west London, on August 15 last year.

The mother-of-one appeared at the Old Bailey today wearing a black sweater and admitted to manslaughter but denied murder on the basis of diminished responsibility.

His lawyers will argue that his mental function was impaired when he killed his mother.

Prosecutor Joel Smith previously told the court that Hanaa Bennis was involved in a “volatile relationship” with her mother.

Police were called after neighbors heard ‘screams and sounds of disturbance’ coming from the address with Aziza Bennis saying: ‘Please don’t hurt me!’

Mr. Smith told the court that at one point Hanaa Bennis could be heard saying, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”

Police found the victim collapsed in the living room and recovered a bloodstained knife, the court heard.

Despite her best efforts, the mother of two was pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem examination has found the cause of death to be multiple stab wounds. Police found video on Hanaa’s mobile phone showing the scene after the murder, the court heard.

‘She moves the camera around the room and shows her mother covered in blood. “She then shows the bloodstained knife to the camera,” Mr Smith said.

Hanaa Bennis, from Ealing, was taken into custody ahead of her two-week trial at the Old Bailey on July 31.
