I had a date with a famous TikToker – she flaked on me but now I’m the ‘bad guy’: Here’s how the texts played out
A young man described his dating troubles after a TikTok influencer seemingly egged him on and cursed at the last minute – but some believe he doesn’t know how to take a hint.
The couple had to reschedule their first date three times before they could finally decide on a time and place — and on their second date, they spent a healthy afternoon at a dog park.
‘When we left, we decided to make a movie and have a glass of wine afterwards. I texted her for some details and this is what I got,” the man wrote on Reddit, along with screenshots of their texts.
The conversation reveals that he repeatedly tried to get a solid plan out of his date, but she kept making excuses to postpone.
Instead, she spent her evening cooking on TikTok live, getting high and taking a relaxing bath.

The man sent his first messages at 6 p.m. to confirm their plans.
‘So red or white wine?
‘And when does it work for you?
“I’m not trying to blow up your phone, I was going to cook here, but I can also order delivery if you feel like it, just let me know,” he said in three separate messages.
“Hey, sorry, I’m just cooking live on TikTok right now,” she replied.
The man asked again what type of wine she preferred, but his date didn’t respond for another 90 minutes after texting her three times.
“Cooking is therapeutic for me sometimes,” she said. “Sorry, I just got super high and I’m going to take a bath. I made Chicken Bryan and it was fire.”

The young man said, “I hope there are leftovers, but you’ll probably eat them because you’re high.
“Do you still want me to come over?” Or will the bath take over?’
The woman replied, “Hahaha, the bath is winning right now.”
Determined to still make the most of his evening, the man wrote back: ‘Doesn’t a movie and wine after the bath sound like the perfect way to end the night?
“It’s not easy to stick to plans.”
For twenty minutes he said, “Okay, I’m officially giving up, I’m all for doing what you want, but don’t say yes if you’re just going to ignore me. I had other plans tonight, but I canceled hanging out with you.”
An hour and a half passed and then the woman replied, “I didn’t text you back for exactly twenty minutes because I was busy.” I asked you at the dog park if you had plans and you said no. I didn’t ignore you, but now I do because you’re causing me anxiety and extra stress.”
The man gave up trying to get together five hours after they met
He replied angrily, “I mean, from the moment you said yes at the dog park until you told me you were going to take a bath, ignore wasn’t the right word – peeling is a better fit.”
“It’s not that hard to just say you’ve changed your mind or you’re tired, but don’t let anyone wonder.”
A few in the comments chastised the man for continuing to pursue her when she wasn’t interested.
“I would have stopped texting at ‘and when works for you?’ if I didn’t get anything other than a time for a response. Stop doing this to yourself,” one person said.
Another warned: ‘Don’t plan your entire night around someone who won’t make solid plans. Even if they are your only prospect. Even if you think they are ‘your person’, ‘soulmate’ or whatever. It seems desperate and sad.’
A few others accused the woman of not making herself clear.
“Yes, this stuff drives me crazy. People who do this are somehow either unaware that other people may have had to adjust their plans to make this work, they don’t care, or they are downright manipulative and love to waste people’s time hostage,” said one man.
‘That would make me so stressed. You made it clear you were planning on hanging out so I think you’re doing okay here and she changed her mind but didn’t want to say it,” another wrote.
A few women interpreted her texting tone as obvious.
“From a girl’s perspective, she doesn’t like you. I can see how short her texts are and how much you compensate. She keeps her answers short and doesn’t ask questions. If she was more interested she would chase,” one person said.
“I saw three ‘no’s’ there, and each time the guy tried to say, ‘Well, I can come over AFTER’ what she was doing, which clearly didn’t involve him. “For me, ‘bad is winning’ was pretty clear,” echoed another.
