Darwin Nunez fueled further speculation he could leave the club in the summer after storming through the Anfield tunnel following Sunday’s win over Tottenham.

The Uruguayan has endured a difficult second season at Liverpool, once again failing to find the target in the 4-2 win over Ange Postecoglou’s visiting Spurs team.

Nunez has now gone six Premier League games without scoring and failed to welcome jubilant Liverpool fans onto the pitch as they enjoyed Jurgen Klopp’s penultimate home game.

The 24-year-old deleted pictures of himself linked to Liverpool from his Instagram profile on Sunday evening, while new footage from the stadium showed him going through the tunnel at full-time.

All that remains on Nunez’s Instagram profile, which has 4.2 million followers, are family photos and photos of the striker playing for former club Benfica and Uruguay.

The central striker started the match against Tottenham on the bench as Klopp instead opted for a three-pronged attack led by Dutch forward Cody Gakpo.

Nunez later made his debut from the bench in the 75th minute when Klopp called him up to replace Colombian star Luis Dias.

His appearance on the field of play coincided with Tottenham’s best period of the match, as they scored twice through Richarlison and captain Son Heung-min to reduce the deficit and set up a nail-biting finish.

Meanwhile, Nunez wasted chances in front of goal that would have killed the match, and he looked unhappy with himself in the immediate aftermath of the match.

With his head down and refusing to look up at the supporters in the stands, the South American made his way to the team’s dressing room as players shook hands on the pitch.

Liverpool supporters believe his recent actions point to a summer move away from the club after Nunez was linked with a possible move to Barcelona.

Nunez is one of the highest paid players at Anfield, but his wages – reportedly around £140,000 per week – would still be significantly lower than what current Barcelona striker Lewandowski currently earns.

‘I don’t get it, is he annoyed that he hasn’t started a few games or is he annoyed that some people have been critical? Anyway, he needs to grow up,” said a Liverpool fan on X in response to Nunez walking out.

‘It shows what an emotional boy he is and that is the problem when he is on the pitch. His emotions get the better of him, he is never relaxed. “If he wants to stay, the new manager needs to address this mentality,” another added.
