It may not have been the best start to the season for Darwin Nunez’s record signing, but he has managed to break the record and become the fastest player in Premier League history.
The 23-year-old clocked a top speed of 23.61 miles per hour as the Reds sealed a 1-0 win over West Ham and set a new top flight record.
Uruguayan international Nunez has surpassed the previous record set by Manchester City star Kyle Walker, who reached 23.48mph in June 2020.

It may come as a surprise to some, but perhaps not to everyone, after he achieved the second-highest top speed in the Champions League last season.
The £85million summer signing reached a top speed of 22.68mph while playing for Benfica, just behind PSG forward Kylian Mbappe who reached 22.8mph against Real Madrid.
His new record capped off a successful night for Nunez, who is struggling to adjust to Premier League life with minimal starts and goals after his record transfer in the summer.

However, Nunez scored the only goal of the game in the first half in what turned out to be an excellent display as he scored his fifth goal for the Reds, hit the post with another try and had five shots before coming out 57 minutes out. precaution.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes Nunez is now living up to his potential as he performed well in the absence of both Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz as his side began to turn their fortunes around.
“It (its purpose) is important. He has now scored a few goals in the last few games. He came in 100 per cent, now even with numbers, which is fine,” said Klopp.
“He kind of felt the muscles at half time but it was all good and after five minutes (of the second half) I was a little worried about long sprints ahead of him and balls where he stretches his legs.

“I thought, ‘Come on, we can’t take that risk’ and that’s why we changed. I think we caught it at the right time.
“It certainly wasn’t easy tonight, but we played well enough – and very well at times. In the end good enough to earn three points.’
Nunez has scored five goals in all competitions for Liverpool, including three in the Premier League.
