Darwin Nunez believes he has benefited from moving away from social media following criticism in the early stages of his Liverpool career.
The Uruguayan striker provided a game-winning performance for the Reds in their 2-1 victory over Newcastle on Sunday.
Nunez came off the bench and scored twice for the Reds, with the 10-man fighting back to secure a dramatic stoppage-time victory.
The 24-year-old told the Uruguayan outlet Sports890 that he had previously read opinions about him on social media.
Nunez admitted that reading the opinions negatively affected him during a mixed first season at Liverpool following his Ā£85 million move from Benfica.

Nunez revealed that he has now moved away from social media and is only concerned about the opinion of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
“I used to watch the (social media) networks, it made me feel bad,” Nunez said.
āThey say they keep criticizing me, but I don’t see anything, I work in silence and things work for me.
‘For me: let them say what they want, my head is fine.
“The coach decides who plays and I respect his opinion.
“I work in silence, whatever minutes hit me, I go in, do my job and try to do my best.”
Nunez had scored 15 goals in 42 games during his first season at Liverpool, but the price tag led to comparisons with Erling Haaland at Man City, who struck 52 times in all competitions.
The Liverpool striker was criticized for his wasteful finishing during the season, but was backed by Klopp.
Nunez had an excellent pre-season ahead of his second year at Anfield, but was only used from the bench in Liverpool’s first three games.
His game-winning performance against Newcastle is expected to cement his claim to a starting spot in Klopp’s side.
