Darts World Cup star fined for slapping teammate and threatening to ‘destroy’ him… as he reveals ongoing feud with ANOTHER rival is due to his wife’s ‘interfering’ in his marriage

  • Kim Huybrechts was fined £1,500 for punching Mike de Decker
  • The Belgian star attacked his teammate in Barnsley in November
  • Huybrechts is also at the center of an ongoing feud with Dimitri van den Bergh

Darts star Kim Huybrechts has been given a hefty fine and a formal warning for allegedly threatening to ‘destroy’ one of his Belgian teammates.

The Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) has fined The Hurricane £1,500 after its disciplinary committee investigated the claims made by Mike de Decker and Dimitri van den Bergh.

He also received a formal warning, which means he could be suspended in the event of a subsequent incident.

Huybrechts is said to have punched De Decker in the face in November last year after a match in Barnsley while they were waiting for transport to the airport.

“I will destroy you!” he is said to have said.

“I swear, this has been on my mind for a long time. You are the first on my list. And your mother too.’

Huybrechts reportedly had to be restrained after attacking his teammate, who subsequently filed a formal complaint.

Earlier this year, the world number 32 reportedly made a ‘threatening’ comment towards Van den Bergh prior to the World Cup.

“Mike, who knows, maybe you’ll throw at the World Cup this year,” he said, according to the Belgian outlet The newspapaer.

“You never know when someone will fall down the stairs.”

The comment seemed to be a thinly veiled criticism of Van den Bergh, his regular World Cup partner for Belgium.

In June, the two barely looked at each other in the opening match of the tournament against Finland, which they won 4-0.

In conversation with the Belgian broadcaster VTM News On Tuesday, Huybrechts claimed that his outburst at De Decker was the result of threats from his wife.

‘My wife had posted a message online in which she indicated that she was disappointed because Mike had said things behind my back during the Tour that had caught my ears.

‘I didn’t confront him about it at the time because I wanted to avoid confrontation.

‘Then someone from Mike’s family called my wife with threats, also towards my children. As a father you always want to protect your family, especially when you hear things like that.

‘Then I snapped. I should never have reacted like that, I was rightly reprimanded for that. But when it comes to my family, I’m quite sensitive.’

About his feud with Van de Bergh, he said: ‘Dimitri’s wife has tried to interfere in my marriage, which I don’t like very much. I have discussed everything necessary with my wife.’

Last month, Huybrechts insisted he would not give up his place in the squad after Van den Bergh revealed he would prefer to play alongside De Decker.

“I’m not going to give up my spot,” he told Double Top.

‘They can say whatever they want. I also prefer to play darts with (my brother) Ronny (Huybrechts), but that is not realistic.

“If they don’t want to throw with me, they’ll have to give it up themselves. Then I’ll throw the number four on the rankings.’
