Darts fan who won £60,000 after Damon Heta’s World Championship nine-darter reveals remarkable way he’ll spend the money
- Damon Heta hit a beautiful nine-darter in his clash with Luke Woodhouse on Friday
- A lucky visitor to Alexandra Palace walked away with a £60,000 prize
A Swiss darts fan who collected Paddy Power’s £60,000 bonus has revealed he will spend his money on beer – and new windows for his house!
Mauro, a 37-year-old teacher from Switzerland, became £60,000 richer on Friday afternoon after Damon Heta hit a stunning nine-darter at Alexandra Palace.
As part of Paddy Power’s The BIGGER 180 campaign, the Irish bookmaker is paying out a £180,000 bonus for every perfect leg at Alexandra Palace – split between a fan in the crowd, the player who hit him and Prostate Cancer UK.
Paddy Power is also donating £1,000 for every 180 at the tournament, and calling on 180,000 men to take Prostate Cancer UK’s 30-second online risk checker.
After being singled out by a camera randomly roaming the arena, the lucky fan said: ‘I have no real words, it’s just incredible.
‘I told my friends and family that if I won it I would pay for the whole trip – and I never imagined I would actually do that! I’m very happy, over the moon.

The Swiss teacher revealed that he plans to cover his friends’ expenses and buy new windows for his home
‘It’s our third time at Alexandra Palace. We came to watch some football and some darts – it was a fun trip with the boys and all good things and winning it is just amazing, unbelievable.
“I just took over my family’s house. We’ll use the £60,000 to buy new windows, it’s quite boring but we need stuff for the house!
‘I’ll also cover all costs for the whole group – and use it to get some more beers! That’s it!’
Heta was millimeters away from hitting a nine-darter in the previous round when he missed the double 12, but he made no mistake this time in the first match after the Christmas holidays.
He followed successive 180s with a treble 20 and treble 19 before sending his ninth dart to the right of the wire.
Heta’s performance was the second time a nine-darter had been hit in the 2025 tournament and 16th all-time at the world championship, behind Christian Kist’s performance before Christmas.
Luke Woodhouse took his opponent’s performance in good spirits, hugged the Australian and raised his arm in the air.
The try came as Heta marched into a 3-1 lead, but the number 9 faded and Woodhouse fought back to take a surprise 4-3 win.
