Darkwood, NSW: New twist behind the shocking death of Mark Myers, found dead in a surfboard bag – as his Nambucca Heads neighbours speak out after Lisa Marie Cummings is charged with his murder

Neighbors of the man found dead in a surfboard bag say they are shocked to learn he was likely killed by a woman who rented a room in his home.

Lisa Marie Cummings, 35, moved into Mark Myers’ home at Nambucca Head in northern New South Wales just a month ago, local residents told Daily Mail Australia.

His body was found Thursday night 70km away in a surf bag in the driveway of a home in Darkwood, near Bellinger River National Park.

Cummings was arrested on Friday for the alleged murder at their shared four-bedroom home and appeared in Coffs Harbour Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Residents on his street described the alleged victim as “a great neighbor” and “a good friend” who had lived in the nearby house since he bought it in 2010.

They called what allegedly happened “unbelievable.”

In addition to paying rent, Cummings is said to have had a relationship with Mr. Myers. According to police, they had a “domestic” relationship.

The four-bedroom house on Loftus Street, Nambucca Heads, was purchased by Mr Myers in 2010, and he rented out rooms to support his lifestyle

Detectives suspect Mr. Myers died elsewhere before his body was found in the driveway of Darkwood.

Police had set up a crime scene, but days later the building was evacuated and no officers were found at the house on Saturday.

Detective Inspector Vince Nicholls said Mr Myers’ family were upset and had been in contact with officers following the death.

He urged anyone with information to come forward to police, including anyone with dashcam footage of the area surrounding the crime scene.
