Darkwood, Coffs Harbour: Shock details emerge about relationship between man found dead in a surfboard bag and a woman charged with murder

A woman accused of killing a man before his body was found in a surfboard bag is said to have been in a relationship with him and paid him rent.

Lisa Marie Cummings, 35, was arrested after Mark Myers, 62, was found dead at 7pm on Thursday at a home in Darkwood in Coffs Harbour, on the New South Wales north coast.

His body was found in a surfboard bag dumped in the driveway of the estate.

Cummings was held in handcuffs on Friday at a property on Loftus Street in Nambucca Heads, 70 kilometres away. He was charged with murder (domestic violence) and was denied bail.

NSW Police sources told the Daily Telegraph that Cummings paid rent to Mr. Myers and that she was in a relationship with him.

It is believed that Mr. Myers died elsewhere before his body was found in the driveway.

Police set up a crime scene where the body was found, but days later the building was evacuated and no officers were found at the house on Saturday.

Neighbors were shocked by Mr. Myers’ sudden death, describing him as a quiet and decent man.

Police Inspector Vince Nicholls said his family were upset and had been in contact with officers.

Inspector Nicholls urged anyone with information to come forward to police.

Cummings appeared in Port Macquarie District Court on Saturday but did not apply for bail, her request was formally denied.

She is expected to appear in court again on Monday.
