Earlier this week, Danny began filming his final explosive scenes on EastEnders as he got ready to jump off a cliff in an apparent death scene.

Danny said in June his departure would be hugely dramatic and hinted it would end in Mick’s death.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: “It’s huge and it’s going to upset a few people. I will miss everyone but I want to go out decently. I came in clean and I want to look good.

“I wish I could tell you more. In the coming months you’ll learn a little bit about what we’re going to do, but I can tell you it’s huge.”

He added: ‘I want to go out in a way that gets people talking. It’s something that needs to be discussed more openly and I think it will shock a few people.”

Earlier this year, Danny admitted that he wanted to leave EastEnders “for a while” when he spoke out for the first time since announcing his departure from the soap.

Speaking of being Sorted With The Dyers podcasthe said: ‘If you have a job as a soap, your contract has to be renewed and every time they have asked me to stay, and I am very grateful to you for that.

‘Because I’ve seen a lot of people come and go. It is very difficult.

“I’m always in doubt whether I want to draw again and I’ve been doubting for a while whether it’s time to roll the dice, take the plunge.

The big news is that I have decided not to renew my contract. That’s all. It’s not because I’ve had a fight with anyone, I love everyone. That job was great for me. It’s an important part of television.’

At the time, the soap star insisted that there is no “big story” behind his departure, other than that he wants to try other things.

A spokesperson for the BBC show confirmed Danny would be leaving Walford later this year, but insisted there’s more drama in store for Mick before he leaves.

Charlie will also be leaving the soap, having rejoined just 19 months ago, labeling her latest storyline as “massive.”

Janine is currently in the midst of a love triangle with her new husband Mick and his ex, Linda (played by Kellie Bright).
