Eddie Jones has taken a brutal beating from one of his former stars when Danny Cipriani took to social media to criticize the Wallabies coach’s ‘limited understanding’ of the game.

Jones aimed another swipe at the RFU on Friday ahead of the Rugby World Cup, with the former England coach insisting the blame for his old side’s poor form rests firmly on the organisers.

“Everyone looks at the head coach and says, ‘Let’s blame the head coach. But the responsibility for producing quality players lies with the RFU. And that didn’t happen,” he told Radio 4.

‘You have to look at why you’re not putting forward talent. Then you have to look at why your talent development systems are not doing that.

The Australian, who coached England for seven years, was at the center of a bitter exit last December and has fired a number of shots since returning to his homeland with the Wallabies, but Cipriani has hit back at his former coach.

Danny Cipriani has claimed that Eddie Jones ‘screwed rugby into the ground’ as England coach

The Wallabies boss went to the RFU on Friday and claimed they are responsible for England’s form

“What an incredible cop,” Cipriani told his 140,000 followers.

“Again… As head coach of England you have set the standard to follow, not by winning, by being a leader people look up to or admire, by being responsible and inspiring a nation through your vision .

“Not by belittling employees, walking through staff, having a limited understanding of the game and getting hired because the RFU doesn’t know what they’re looking for, which is why they hired Eddie.

“RFU plays a major role, but Eddie’s passing of responsibility is nothing new…”

Responding to a fan, Cipriani added that during his tenure at the helm, Jones was “running rugby into the ground.”

But Cipriani says Jones’ “limited understanding of the game” has hampered England

“Rugby has to make a change in this country,” he said. Eddie drove him further into the ground after a shocking W/C exit in 2015.

“If reaching the World Cup final in 2019 or even winning it in 2003 was enough to expand the game, it would have happened.

‘RFU plays a big role, it’s not a serious matter. Selling Twickenham is not difficult. Only if they don’t will they remember to look in the mirror…”
