Danni Menzies slips into a skimpy red bikini in minus degree temperatures as she goes wild swimming in Scotland

During her television career she has enjoyed the sun, sea and sand on tropical beaches around the world.

However, Danni Menzies faced much colder water on Wednesday when she took a dip in a cold Scottish lake amid freezing temperatures.

Place In The Sun, 36, posted a video to social media showing her braving the freezing conditions after stripping down to a red bikini.

In the clip she said: “It was minus 12 here last night so this is going to be interesting.”

The star, who has spoken about her love of wild swimming, then steps into the water and wades out before being joined by her black Labrador Mona, who swims towards her.

In a note to her post, Menzies said: ‘I have no idea what the water temperature was but I can tell you two minutes was enough!’

The body of water in the video is probably Loch Tay. Her parents live on a large estate in Kenmore, Perthshire, next to the lake.

Later in the video, Menzies donned a white dressing gown and wool hat before she and Mona played tug-of-war with a towel.

The fun clip comes after the presenter made a surprising career move with a new project.

The Scottish star started co-hosting A Place In The Sun in 2016 and announced her departure from the program earlier last year.

In partnership with The Health Lottery, Danni started an ‘inspirational’ podcast where she speaks to personalities such as Kaye Adams from Loose Women.

Danni told The Scottish Sun at the time: ‘I’m thrilled to be anchoring my first ever podcast series with The Health Lottery.

“I can’t wait to share uplifting and entertaining stories of kindness, resilience and celebrating achievement with people from all walks of life.”

Award-winning filmmaker and photographer Doug Allan, Michelin-star chef Andy Beynon and best-selling author Chris Brookmyre were also on the pod.

Danni’s show became available on all platforms including Apple, Spotify and Amazon Music from May 23.

Her show is part of The Health Lottery’s Pay it Forward campaign, which has raised more than £130 million for wellbeing causes in the UK.

Mark Nash, the company’s marketing director, said: ‘We hope this podcast will inspire listeners to embrace the joy of giving back and celebrate life’s victories, big and small. It’s a great showcase for what the Health Lottery stands for.’

Last year Danni also confirmed she is single and said she was simply enjoying life after a short relationship with Love Island star Jay Younger, 31 – also a Scot.

She proved that in April when she shared beautiful photos from her solo trip to the Cayman Islands to see a friend.

Danni said, “Things weren’t going well for Jay, but that’s okay. If you travel a lot for work, it becomes more difficult to meet someone.’
