Woman, 28, is left paralyzed after a huge grand PIANO fell on her and severed her spine as she helped move it for a friend

A 28-year-old woman who helped her friend move a grand piano is now paralyzed from the waist down after a freak accident.

Danielle Drummond told the local news station WOIO that she was putting something under the piano when her friend lost her grip, causing it to slip and fall on top of her.

“She fell on me like a whole wing, and my spinal cord was severed,” Drummond said. “Now I’m paralyzed from the waist down.”

She was rushed to hospital and underwent emergency surgery. Doctors told her she would be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life.

“I’m trying to stay cheerful because I know this is my life now, but it’s hard. From now on I will need a lot more physiotherapy. “I need to get my strength back,” she said.

Drummond had just moved from Cleveland, Ohio to Eugene, Oregon to live in a van when the accident happened. While it would make the most sense to move home with her family given her condition, it would be a major undertaking, especially considering the additional challenges of transporting her medical equipment.

She also said that if she wants to be able to live on her own, she will need a home care aide for the rest of her life.

“I don’t even know how I would get home, let alone how to convey all the medical stuff, and I don’t feel like I’m capable of taking such a long drive or trip on a plane right now.” ,’ she said.

“I hope people who are going through this don’t give up,” Drummond said.

Her sister Rosie Hayne has one GoFundMe to pay the medical costs. Hayne posted an update on May 1 about her sister’s health journey and how her sister was dealing with the pain.

“Danielle is moving very well in the hospital wheelchair,” the message read.

‘She wants to make it clear that she does not expect to ever be able to walk again. She has accepted the reality of her situation. But she has a great spirit and an overall positive outlook, focusing on what she can do.”

Drummond did not identify her friend or whether she had apologized. The status of their friendship is unclear.
