Danielle Bux posts pictures to celebrate daughter Ella’s 23rd birthday and can’t resist sharing a snap of ex and BFF Gary Lineker – but there’s no sign of her current husband Nate!

Danielle Bux once again proved the strength of her friendship with ex-husband Gary Lineker by including him in her birthday tribute to her eldest daughter.

Despite their divorce nine years ago, Danielle shared a sweet throwback photo of her daughter Ella with Gary as she celebrated her 23rd birthday.

“My sweet girl turned 23 today We love you forever and beyond,” the proud mom captioned the gallery.

Gary is not Ella’s father, with Danielle welcoming her eldest when she was 22 and dating an unknown ex.

Danielle has remained close to Gary despite their divorce and her five-year marriage to US attorney Nate Greenwald, who did not appear in a photo in her Instagram montage.

Gary proved he’s the friendliest ex with his ex-wife last month when the Match Of The Day presenter snubbed the BBC Sports Personality Of The Year for dinner together.

They have remained close since their split, with the presenter, 64, admitting some may find their friendship ‘unusual’.

Gary previously revealed the cause of their marriage breakdown was caused by Danielle’s desire to have another child – and she welcomed a daughter, Romy, seven, in 2017.

Since they amicably split, Gary has been open about the fact that they have kept in close contact, texting each other ‘three times a day’ and going on holiday together.

“Danielle and I are best friends, we still speak three times a day, we text all the time,” he shared The mirror earlier. “When she comes to London she stays with me, and when I go to Los Angeles I see her.”

Gary and Danielle married on September 2, 2009 in Ravello, Italy, but separated seven years later.

The former footballer revealed them broke up with her over her desire to have children, while he was comfortable with his four sons, George, 32, Harry, 30, Tobias, 28, and Angus, 26, from his previous marriage to Michelle Cockayne.

Gary previously told the Times: ‘Of course I would have, but she said, ‘It’s not fair to you.’ Then I said, “Well, I would feel terrible if I stopped you from doing this.”

Speaking on his friend Gaby Logan’s podcast The Mid-Point last year, Gary further explained: ‘It was purely down to the kids.

‘She already had a daughter, I had four boys, [but] Then her body clock started ticking and she got the urge.

“We finally decided, ‘Why don’t we just stay friends?'” he continued, adding that he wanted to give her the freedom to find someone who was also interested in having a baby.

“She didn’t want me to do something I didn’t really want to do deep down, and I didn’t want to stop her from doing something she really wanted to do, deep down, so we came to a logical and sensible decision. [split]’.

In an interview in 2010 – the year after they got married – Gary admitted he wasn’t sure whether or not they should have more children.

“She has a child from a previous relationship and I have four myself, so we’re not sure we want any more,” he told The Times newspaper.

Danielle found love with American lawyer Nate and settled her life in Los Angeles as she wanted to pursue an acting career.

They married in 2019, two years after welcoming their seven-year-old daughter Romy.

The couple are said to have met after the model moved in next door and Nate got on well with Gary from the start.

“He doesn’t have a jealous bone in his body,” Gary previously told Radio Times. ‘We get along very well. We go out to dinner when I’m in LA. It might be unusual and people might say, “That’s weird,” but honestly, I don’t care. What is normal?

“Is it better to get divorced and end up fighting, yelling and screaming? Or is it better to keep going if you can?’
