Dani Olmo faces being FORCED to leave Barcelona, with SIX Premier League clubs circling, even as his agent claims he wants to stay, with clock ticking on registration fight

Barcelona are in a race against time to ensure star midfielder Dani Olmo is registered to play for the club in the second half of the season.

The attacking midfielder signed for £50million from Red Bull Leipzig last summer but could only be registered on a temporary basis until the end of the calendar year due to Barcelona’s ongoing LaLiga financial constraints.

Barcelona’s second attempt to register the Euro 2024 winner was rejected on Monday by Barcelona’s Court of First Instance 47.

It means Olmo could leave as a free agent in January if the Spanish Football Federation continues to block his registration as they push for the Catalan giants to make more cuts, find more revenue and meet their financial guidelines.

Reports in Spain on Tuesday suggested the club is working tirelessly to resolve the issue before the 11.59pm deadline on New Year’s Eve.

Unfortunately for the European giants, if Olmo did not do so before the deadline, he would no longer be eligible to play for the side from January 1 because, according to point 5 of Article 141 of the competition rules, ‘footballers whose license is revoked, will not be able to obtain a license from the same team of the club to which they were previously associated during the same season.’

News of their efforts comes amid reports that Olmo wants to remain in Catalonia.

His agent Andy Bara, who sparked rumors when he arrived in Manchester last week, told Fabrizio Romano: ‘Dani’s decision is to STAY at Barcelona because he wants to play for Barça.

‘We are NOT considering any other option. Dani wants to play for Barcelona.’

Unfortunately for the 26-year-old, the decision may soon be out of his control, but that is not due to the club’s lack of commitment, which has reportedly resorted to creative tactics to generate revenue that would satisfy the league.

According to Mundo DeportivoBarcelona have sent additional documentation regarding the sale of VIP seats at the soon-to-be completed Spotify Camp Nou for around €100 million (£83 million).

Furthermore, the outlet claims that there is pressure on the league from clubs such as Athletic Bilbao, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla, with the ‘delegation committee and auditor awaiting the details of all the fine print’.

Should Olmo be forced to leave his boyhood club, he will face a long list of Premier League clubs interested in his services.

The big six of the top flight, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham, are all keen to land the versatile midfield next month, reports in Spain claim.

It is believed that Arsenal were the first club to show interest in Olmo, while Chelsea and Spurs have recently joined the bandwagon.

Predictably, they are not alone in the race to be the winner of Euro 2024. German giants Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen are weighing him up and his former side Leipzig are making it clear he will always have a home there.

Over the weekend, Paris Saint-Germain joined the fray as they continued to look for creative reinforcements, with Lyon’s Rayan Cherki considered another option amid the French club’s own financial problems.

PSG boss Luis Enrique already knows Olmo from the Spanish national team and is monitoring his situation at Barcelona.

However, the player himself is reportedly remaining professional throughout the saga and is determined to see out his contract, which runs until 2030.

He trained on New Year’s Eve from 10 a.m., despite not knowing where his future lies, AS reported on Tuesday.
