Joana Sanz, the former wife of Dani Alves, accidentally shared a curious letter written by the disgraced star from his captivity.
The 40-year-old Brazilian athlete was convicted of assaulting a woman in the toilet of a nightclub in Barcelona in December 2022.
Before receiving a four-and-a-half-year prison sentence on Thursday, Alves wrote a letter to his former partner from his prison cell as he awaited trial.
In the letter, he asked for her forgiveness and expressed his gratitude for her resilience during such tumultuous times, as reported by Fashion. Alves professed his enduring love for Joana and affirmed their shared strength.
The letter expressed appreciation for Joana’s steadfastness amid the scandal and emphasized his commitment to their journey together. Alves expressed his desire to walk every path with her and acknowledge her presence in every aspect of his life.

‘What I dreamed of and what I still dream of. I want to walk all roads with you. I didn’t have the wrong woman, yes, it was you.’ Read the letter.
‘There is not a single day, not a single moment, not a single plan in which you are not there. I pray every day for the day I can see you wake up.”
‘Nostalgia is not about not being able to do now. Wherever, whatever, whatever, but with you always by my side. I feel strange feelings. I love you.’
Joana initially shared the love note on her Instagram page in September, but quickly deleted it, attributing the public post to a mistake aimed solely at her close friends.
Following his sentence to prison and the order to compensate the victim with £130,000 (150,000 euros), reports indicate that Alves could be released as early as July 20, after serving a third of his term, according to Spanish media sources.

The former Barcelona star is the center of speculation amid rumors that he may be released to work or carry out other activities during the day, and locked up again at night, in accordance with Spanish law.
The possibility of him exchanging part of his sentence for deportation to Brazil is also being considered, as explained by lawyer Agustín Martínez Becerra.
However, such requests can only be made following a decision by the court of second instance, which is dependent on Alves’ successful appeal.
The disgraced star had two spells at Barcelona and has also played for Sevilla, Juventus, PSG and Sao Paulo.
Notably, he made history as the oldest player to represent Brazil at the December 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
