A dangerous ex-convict has been charged with brutally raping and mutilating a woman in Florida just months after he was released from a 20-year sentence on similar charges after doctors said he “would not reoffend.”
Bruce Whitehead, 54, was arrested in Orlando five days after allegedly driving a woman into a wooded area, raping her at knifepoint and attempting to kill her, investigators said. the glow.
An arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet said Whitehead had agreed to pay the woman $850 for him to “paint her for an hour” with reports from the New York Post saying he “voluntarily” picked her up around 4am on Saturday, December 10, “near a strip club in Orlando.”
The woman, who fled the gruesome assault, allegedly sought help from passersby in a nearby neighborhood.
Whitehead was arrested the following Thursday after he was spotted by an ‘observing resident’.
Bruce Whitehead was arrested in Orlando on December 15 after the brutal attack of a woman he has been accused of raping at knifepoint and attempting to murder five days earlier.
Whitehead had been trying to hide a huge ‘sacrifice’ forehead tattoo by wearing a hat, but was promptly arrested, after a tip alerted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, December 15.
‘Brutal rapist Bruce Whitehead is in OCSO custody, thanks to tip at 7am today [Dec 15] of an observant resident!’ the police tweeted about the incident.
“Whitehead raped and attempted to murder a woman on December 10. Thank you to our community members and media partners for making sure her face was everywhere.”
residents said fox 35 that they couldn’t believe that the vicious criminal had been right under their noses.
‘That’s really crazy. It’s literally in our backyard. It’s such a nice neighborhood, nothing happens here,’ Nick Siviga told the station.
According to an OCSO arrest affidavit, the victim was standing near the intersection of Sand Lake Road and South Orange Blossom Trail with her friends when Whitehead approached her.
He allegedly told his latest victim that she was an artist and offered her $850 to paint her for an hour.
The victim got into Whitehead’s car and he drove her to the Highland Lakes Center mall.
The report stated that he forced the victim out of the car with a knife to his chin and told him to lie down in the back seat.
Whitehead reportedly drove the victim to a parking lot in Pine Hills, removed her from the car, and walked her into a wooded area.
Whitehead had served two decades in prison on similar charges from the 1980s, but was released earlier this year when doctors believed he was rehabilitated.
Videos of Whitehead’s arrest show the brutal attacker being escorted by police while wearing what appears to be a white hazmat suit.
He then allegedly cut off her clothing and mutilated her body. After sexually assaulting the victim, the affidavit states that Whitehead began stabbing her multiple times in the chest.
The report goes on to state that she fought him off by kicking him in the chest and face before running off for help.
People in the neighborhood where officers arrested Whitehead told Fox 35 they are happy to see him back in prison.
We don’t need that. We don’t need that anywhere. Children and families live here. He doesn’t need to be here. Absolutely not!’ Clyde Sales told the station.
Whitehead was charged with sexual assault, attempted murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault and armed robbery for the latest incident. Police did not specify how the latest victim had allegedly been maimed in the attack.
“In my time here at the sheriff’s office, this is probably one of the most heinous offenses,” said Evan Avila of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
‘Personally, I would rate it as a monster. That is my personal opinion.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said the victim is expected to recover.
Whitehead had been released from prison earlier this year after two doctors found he had “changed and no longer posed a risk of recidivism.” news4jax informed.
According to court transcripts, in 1986 a woman reported that Whitehead raped her, but he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault charges and served 35 days.
Within a week of his release, while on probation, records show, he kidnapped another woman at knifepoint in Jacksonville, assaulting her and stabbing her 25 times.
In 2009, a psychiatrist said that Whitehead appeared “not to be receptive to treatment”. He was caught for his latest crime by an observant informant who noticed his dazzling face tattoo.
Whitehead had been in state custody for most of his adult life and served 20 years as part of a plea deal for the 1986 Duval County rape and attempted murder before being designated a “sexually violent predator” and spend 15 more years in custody.
Hundreds of pages of court transcripts from a 2009 trial over whether Whitehead should be designated a sexually violent predator paint a picture of Whitehead’s 1986 crime, his experience in prison and even his childhood with the twisted criminal who testifies he was sexually abused when I was a child by two people. .
Court records also revealed that Whitehead testified about fantasizing about rape and murder from a young age and that he had a drinking problem, the outlet reported.
Counselor Lori Osachy told news4jax that alcohol can be disinhibiting for people with pre-existing issues.
“I want to make it very clear that most people who have been sexually abused do not continue to abuse,” Osachy said.
In 2009, a psychiatrist testified that, in his opinion, Whitehead “is one of the most dangerous and violent people I have ever evaluated.”
The psychiatrist also said Whitehead had been kicked out of prison sex offender treatment multiple times, including for proposing to the therapist.
“If they’re not receptive to treatment, usually the treatment can work, but if they’re not receptive to it, they’re not willing to participate, of course, it points to a higher chance that they’ll recommit,” Osachy said.
Whitehead testified that he had changed in 2009, but a jury found him a sexually violent predator and he was committed to a civilian facility for custody and treatment.
Despite years of therapy and doctors’ opinions that he no longer posed a risk, Whitehead is now again charged with armed rape, kidnapping and attempted murder and is now awaiting a new trial.
