Soccer star Dane Swan has come under fire for tweeting that “men can buy tampons” after spotting an assortment of male incontinence pads in a supermarket.
The AFL legend made the post on Wednesday night, sharing a photograph of the health products accompanied with the words: ‘It’s been a day guys because today is the day I learned that men can buy tampons. Now I have seen it all officially.
The reaction to the tweet was swift and wild, with some commenters questioning whether Swan has any idea what a tampon really looks like, while others criticized him for creating a stigma around sanitary napkin use.
Swan’s tweet about male incontinence pads drew a quick and wild reaction on Twitter after he posted it on Wednesday night.
Commenters wrote that the former Collingwood AFL star has no idea what a tampon really looks like, or was making a shocking joke at the expense of incontinence pad users.

“It’s an amazing world we live in. It’s not just guys who can buy tampons, guys who have prostate cancer or, in my dad’s case, advanced Parkinson’s and associated dementia, can buy and wear protective underwear like this.” replied Russell Bennett. .
Joann Harris wrote: ‘1: There have never been any restrictions on who can buy tampons. 2: These are not tampons.’

Many commenters lashed out at Swan for creating a stigma around sanitary pads, which are used by those suffering from cancer and other chronic illnesses.
