Dancing with the Stars alum Tom Bergeron gets supportive feedback from fans after recent hospitalization for food poisoning and bruised rib

Tom Bergeron received some supportive comments from fans as he celebrated his 41st wedding anniversary with wife Lois, revealing that he was recently hospitalized due to a number of ailments.

The 68-year-old Dancing with the Stars alumnus shared an old wedding photo and described the string of health issues he had recently suffered, including food poisoning and a bruised rib.

“We spent our 41st anniversary yesterday at @santaynez Hospital (amazing staff, BTW) where yours truly was treated for food poisoning and a bruised rib,” the veteran TV personality, who has also appeared on Hollywood Squares and America’s Funniest Home Videos, post caption.

The Haverhill, Massachusetts-born TV host said “it’s a long story” and that he was “home now and resting.”

Bergeron added that he was “reminded again how lucky I am that 41 years ago she said, ‘I do.'”

Bergeron received a string of well wishes from fans amid the reveal of both the relationship milestone and medical incidents.

One fan commented, “Happy Birthday!!!!! Get well soon!’ while another said, ‘Be well. Food poisoning sucks.”

Another fan commented, “Happy 41st birthday! and hope [you’re] feel better soon, while one said, “Happy Birthday and a speedy recovery.”

Bergeron has rarely spoken about his personal life through public platforms.

He shared how his wife was a comforting presence to him in the midst of anger issues while appearing on the podcast 10 percent happier September 2017.

Bergeron recalled, “There were a few apartment walls in my single days that had holes in the sheetrock that I had pierced. If you stick a poster over it when you leave the apartment, apparently you won’t get your deposit back.’

He continued, “The rage thing was always directed at inanimate objects or at myself. But there was one time when we were out and something happened and I just put my fist in the door of the car.

“And she wisely said, ‘If we want to be in a relationship, that has to stop.'”

Bergeron said he eventually found a calming outlet through Transcendental Meditation, which he says has calmed him for the past three and a half decades.

“It puts you in a better position to judge things as they happen so you don’t freak out,” he said.
