Later in the show, John Fashanu became the first lineup star to be dropped from the ITV series.

Meanwhile, Carley Stenson and her professional partner Mark Hanretty topped the standings with the highest score of the series thus far.

After all five celebrities performed during week two, it was revealed that John would face off against Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu in the skate off, with both pairs performing new routines.

Judges Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean agreed and voted for Ekin-Su to stay in the competition as she included “more technical skating in the routine”.

Asked by presenter Holly Willoughby whether or not he enjoyed the experience, John replied, “Oh, it’s been great”, before saying it was like the FA Cup final all over again.

Co-host Phillip Schofield then asked the former footballer if he would ‘keep skating’, to which he replied: ‘Oh yeah! I’ll keep skating and, who knows, I might even start teaching people.’

Skate off – After all five celebrities performed during week two, it was revealed that John would face Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu in the skate off, with both pairs performing new routines.

Awful: It was a rocky start for Love Island fan favorite Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu series, who placed in the bottom two by receiving the fewest public votes.

John and fellow pro Alexandra Schauman earned 19 out of 40 points for their sporting performance.

Speaking about the former footballer’s routine, Chris said: ‘I think you’re the most improved skater since bootcamp. You were a drag in training camp, but you made it, you were stable there.’

Many viewers at home complained that John’s skating routine was almost identical to his main skate.

They took to Twitter to express their frustration to ITV over the amount of voting time that was allocated in the second week, noting that they didn’t even get a chance to access the page before voting closed.
