Dancing On Ice viewers rage as stars are accused of ‘clinging’ to their partners

Dancing on Ice returned for its second episode on Sunday, with stars including The Vivienne and Corrie’s Mollie Gallagher all taking to the floor before footballer John Fashanu was the first to be dropped from the show.

However, viewers were unimpressed with the lack of skating, accusing celebrities of “clinging” to their partners and joking that “there was no chance anyone would fall off.”

Even the judges noticed the trend with actress Mollie, even when told that she was relying too much on professional Sylvain Longchambon.

On Twitter, the viewer wrote: “There’s no chance anyone’s going down tonight because they won’t let their partners go!”

While another hit on footballer John’s routine: ‘He wasn’t even skating by himself, he was holding his hand the whole time. Get it out of here’.

With a second writing: ‘He was holding on to his partner, all the time 5/4.5 is genuine. I’m sorry’.

Despite only scoring 19 for 40, another viewer declared that John had been ‘overshot’: ‘Overshot, he spent most of his routine without moving his feet.’

While Hollyoaks, Carley Stenson, who scored an impressive 32, also took on the crowd of viewers with a comment: “Sorry, she held on to him the whole time and gets 8 across the board, fixed.”

Elsewhere on the show, Vivienne made history on the ITV show by becoming the first drag queen to perform.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race star and fellow pro Colin Grafton were delighted as they earned a total score of 28.5 out of 40, with Ashley, Oti and Jayne giving it a 7, while Chris gave it a 7.5.

Oti praised The Vivienne’s first performance: ‘If you’re going to make history, this is how history is made, congratulations!’

Chris seemed impressed and said: ‘A star was born in the ice tonight. Our own diva on the ice, but you’re our best skater by far.

He then quoted Cher and said, “We all invent ourselves, but some just have more imaginations.”

The drag queen looked sensational in a black mesh catsuit with glitter detailing at the front, with Colin donning a matching top and leather pants.

Many viewers took to Twitter to express their frustration to ITV over the amount of voting time that was allocated in the first and second week, noting that they didn’t even get a chance to access the page before voting closed.

Despite the glitz and glamour, it was a rocky start for Love Island fan favorite Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu series, who placed in the bottom two by receiving the fewest votes from the public.

The Love Island star recreated a memorable scene from the ITV2 reality show where he crawled across the floor, prompting more than 100 Ofcom complaints from viewers who thought the routine was too risqué for the family-friendly series.

Speaking before the skate-off, she said: “I’m not going to lie, I was really upset thinking what I did wrong, but I’m strong, I need to work hard and prove myself.” ‘

After all five celebrities performed for week two, it was time to find out who would dance again next week in the bottom two, and risk being sent home.

John and Alexandra landed in the bottom two and faced off against Ekin-Su in the dreaded skate-off, with both pairs performing a whole new routine.

The show kicked off with a performance by the pros and an introduction by the celebrities who would be skating during week 2.

Viewers were also treated to a spectacular performance by legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

Host Holly Willoughby looked amazing in a glamorous blue dress while presenting alongside Phillip Schofield.

Dancing On Ice returned for another year this past Sunday night with a star-studded launch show.
