Dancing On Ice star Alexander Demetriou has married his new partner Julia Mercer after separating from his ex-wife three years ago.
Speaking after his divorce in 2020, the professional skater, 34, revealed his bond with his dance partner Maura Higgins, making his wife Carlotta Edwards jealous.
Alexander shared the happy news on Instagram on Thursday and announced that he would marry Julia later that day.
The pair were seen smiling in a photo from a recent trip to New Mexico, which he captioned, “Today is the day I get to marry this world star. Luckiest man in the world.’
Alexander and Julia first announced their relationship in late 2020 when they shared a series of love-up Christmas snaps on social media.

Speaking candidly about the breakdown of his marriage in May 2020, the professional skater said of his now-estranged wife, “I didn’t want to string her along anymore.”
Alexander admitted that his “close bond” with Love Island beauty Maura was hard for Carlotta to see, with their relationship eventually falling apart.
Last month, he confirmed that he had split from his skating wife, in a statement on his Instagram Stories.
He wrote, “I’m sorry I’ve been quiet on social media lately, but it’s been a tough time for me personally.
“Carlotta and I broke up. While it saddens me that we can no longer be together, I think it’s best for both of us.
“I look forward to what the future holds, but in the meantime, let’s all say home and stay safe.”
In an interview with The sunAlexander began about the factors that ended his four-year marriage to the Canadian native.
He said: ‘I think Carlotta found it difficult to see me up close, yet so professional, with Maura. It had an impact on her.’

“I told Carlotta we needed a break, but I knew it was for good. I didn’t want to string her along anymore. She was shocked at how serious it was.’
He went on to say it was his decision to demand time for their union, adding that Carlotta was “very upset.”
He added, “I had to explain to Carlotta several times that Maura and I were just friends. Once the rumors start, it becomes a conversation – it was hard for Maura to be called a homewrecker online.”
Alexander also stated that he and the former grid girl became “emotionally dependent” on each other as competitive pressure increased.
