The dancer on the vacation of her life fell into a coma after being bitten by a mosquito; when she woke up, her arms and legs had been amputated.

A dancer has told how she woke up from a coma without arms or legs after being bitten by a mosquito abroad.
Tatiana Timon, 35, from Camberwell, London, was rushed to hospital after returning from an ‘amazing’ dance trip to Angola, Africa, with malaria last year.
Miss Timon’s condition worsened rapidly and doctors had to put her into an induced coma after she developed sepsis.
When he woke up, he “knew” that something had happened to him, but soon realized that his arms and legs had been amputated.
But she has said she is simply “grateful to be alive” and has remained positive despite waking up with a quadruple amputation less than a year ago.

Miss Timon told him mylondon: ‘When I woke up from the coma I knew, I saw that I was in the hospital, and I knew that something was wrong with me.
“But at the time I didn’t know how bad it was, like I knew something had happened.”
He explained that he had been in Angola for the ‘most incredible’ ten days while pursuing his passion for Kizomba.
But unknowingly she had been bitten by a mosquito and contracted the ‘deadliest’ form of malaria.
Miss Timon said she had no idea and admitted she hadn’t researched antimalarials as she was so focused on Covid.
When she returned to London, Miss Timon said that things quickly began to take a turn for the worse, and she did not recover after falling off a bicycle.
She was rushed to hospital and slipped into a coma, where she developed sepsis, leading doctors to amputate her limbs to save her life.
Miss Timon is now determined to become independent and has new prosthetic arms and legs.

Share updates on her Instagram page and vow to stay positive. Miss Timon wrote in a post: ‘Now even without limbs I know I’ll be back in the gym.
“I am determined to get back to my healthy self, mentally and physically.”
Tatiana is raising funds in the hope of buying new dentures, which can cost up to £160,000.
She added: ‘What happened to me changed me. It changed me inside. I have the support of my friends, my family. I am grateful to be alive. Just being grateful is enough.
‘I’ve always been positive, I’ll make a joke about anything. I can turn the negative into a positive to make my life easier, because I don’t like stress. It happened, so I need to deal with it.’
