DAN WOOTTON: Oprah Winfrey must retire from royal affairs

Oprah Winfrey is now a sworn enemy of the British royal family.

So while she may consider herself the queen of the American talk show, it’s about time she kept her mouth shut when it comes to highly sensitive matters related to King Charles’s coronation.

In yet another attempt to destabilize our monarchy, following her despicable hit TV piece in which she allowed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to spout numerous untruths, including fantastical claims of racism, without a hint of journalistic backlash, she has now weighed in on the crisis surrounding the Sussexes’ potential presence at the event is of great significance.

Speaking on American Breakfast TV, she insisted, “I think they should do what they think is best for them and their family. That’s what I think.

“In the end it comes down to, ‘What do you think is right for you?’

That, folks, is insincere nonsense.

Harry and Meghan have not once done what’s best for their family, exemplified by the fact that they granted Oprah their mean score-settling “interview” while Prince Philip was literally on his deathbed.

And for once, this decision shouldn’t be about what’s right for them.

It is, of course, correct that Harry and Meghan are at the coronation.

Despite displaying a deep-seated hatred of the institution and members of their family within it, the Duke and Duchess of Woke have recently come to a crushing realization that their closeness to the royal family is largely responsible for whether Hollywood salaries will continue stream in. .

Their stock is lifted for their paymasters like Netflix and Spotify — both companies troubled by putting too much waking content on stream — when they’re seen at one of the most sweeping royal events in living memory.

But the Sussex sideshow overshadowing our new monarch’s coronation is definitely not the right thing for Harry and Meghan’s family.

Especially not Prince William, understandably still glowing with anger at the series of attacks against him published in Harry’s vengeful autobiography Spare, including allegations of violence and bullying, all of which had been stripped of context and had the effect of casting a shadow over reputation of the future king forevermore.

But neither would King Charles, whose coronation would be overtaken by the inevitable drama that surrounds each visit from the Montecito Moaners, who senior royals believe are already plotting a stunt designed to steal some of the spotlight.

Oprah made the comments on CBS to her BFF Gayle King, another so-called friend of Meghan’s who showed absolutely no interest in the C-list actress while she was a star of Suits, but suddenly found herself in her inner circle at the time she started dating a prince.

While Oprah insisted to Gayle that Harry and Meghan hadn’t directly asked for her advice, believe me this early television intervention, which was reported around the world, was far from accidental.

Meghan is obsessed with American breakfast TV, believing it to be the best way to lead increasingly skeptical Americans to her floundering cause.

While still in the royal family, I remember one of the Sussex Survivor Club members telling me that Meghan was so obsessed with the three great American breakfast anchors – Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s Today Show, Robin Roberts on ABC’s Good Morning America and her aforementioned boyfriend Gayle on CBS Mornings — that announcements were often timed to coincide with the airing of their programs at 7 a.m. New York time, with her advisors giving special briefings to the celebrity anchors.

And Meghan hangs on to every word uttered by Gayle and Oprah in particular, whom she considers queens of the American celebrity wake movement, which she so desperately wants to be a part of.

The message to Meghan from her fake friends came across loud and clear: We need you to be at the coronation so we can maintain our own influence as your powerful American media peers.

It’s cynical, it’s ugly, but that’s how the Hollywood elite have always acted; friendship is rarely real, but is instead defined by one’s power and influence.

Oprah made a similar public intervention following the late Queen’s death, proving that even a family tragedy is an event she’ll gladly wade into to spread pro-Meghan propaganda if it gives her a voice of authority over a royal event.

So since Oprah loves to give unsolicited public advice to Harry and Meghan that is meant to do maximum damage to our royal family, I’d like to give her some words of wisdom from myself…

Mrs Winfrey, you have been a dishonest player in the War of the Windsors, spreading a false narrative that the Royal Family was somehow racist.

Your lack of journalistic integrity while interviewing one of your close friends has done great harm to the late Queen and her husband Prince Philip and while you publicly admitted that neither was personally racist, you corrected the account of the proven falsehoods surrounding the institution they dedicated their lives before one of those great Britons died.

In fact, it was Harry who finally backtracked on the allegations, relegating racism to unconscious bias during another interview with a close friend, this time ITV’s Tom Bradby, earlier this year.

Your advice, both private and public, to Harry and Meghan is meant to create maximum drama and further your own involvement in the saga, rather than protecting the British Royal Family, who you know cannot comment publicly because of their constitutional role.

While you may want to have Harry and Meghan at the coronation as it gives you one more chance to get yourself involved in this sordid story, it’s not the best thing for King Charles, Prince William, the British royal family or the public, who want that the focus remains. laser aimed at our new monarch and not some tasteless and unnecessary distraction.
