Democrats are unwilling to admit they have a problem. Until they do that, they won’t find the solution. And it won’t come from California, or any place like it.
Fortunately, Joe Biden will not return to politics after January. Even now he’s barely there. But Kamala Harris didn’t get the hint. In her election speech, in which she promised to ‘never give up’, the word ‘fight’ was used twenty times.
According to recent reports, Harris is repeating that theme to nausea in conversations with allies and donors – you know, the guys who just gave her a billion dollars to blow up.
“I’ll stay in the fight,” she says.
Harris reportedly plans to spend the holidays huddled with family and discuss her next steps: whether she wants to run again in 2028, run for governor of California in 2026, or both.
And she certainly kicked off the Thanksgiving celebrations in true form by releasing a bizarre, raging video — leaning into the camera and slurring her words on Tuesday night. In the clip, she assured Democrats that “you have the same power you had before November 5.” But that’s not how elections work.
That is not the case either “Never let anyone or any circumstance take your strength from you.” This is a really good message for an outgoing government that has spent four years emphasizing the so-called threat to democracy from people who cannot accept a loss.
The video — believed to have been staged from a San Francisco living room — featured a makeshift backdrop, complete with an obligatory American flag and what appeared to be pulled curtain fabric.

If Harris had staffers who actually liked her, they would never have released this.
Instead, she spends her time on the beaches of Hawaii polling her family — which is code for listening to her sister Maya, who worked for Hillary Clinton’s losing 2016 campaign before taking on a prominent role in both of Kamala’s failed bids. Is that advice you would like to have?
At least Hillary didn’t try to run again. Not that her humiliating loss has stopped her from repeatedly popping up to charge that Trump didn’t actually win. It hasn’t stopped her from writing either fourth memoir, with the sublime title ‘Something Lost, Something Gained’.
Note to Mrs. Clinton: 77 is old enough to no longer cling to the world stage if you have nothing new to say.
Unlike the Republicans, who gave Trump and Richard Nixon a second chance, the Democrats have not renominated any of their losers since Adlai Stevenson in 1956.
Al Gore never held another office, and neither did Hillary. The best bet for Harris would be to follow John Kerry’s playbook and hope for a White House appointment the next time a Democrat wins.
Instead, she still dreams of becoming Madam President. And her best chance at that That That will happen if something tragic happens to Biden before January 20.
If Harris isn’t a pushover yet, she probably will be when she tries to run again — and that bleary-eyed video proved why.
The easiest way for Democrats to declare their defeat is to shoot the messenger and blame Biden and Harris. The least they can do is find new faces if they don’t want to change the message.
Democratic voters have not yet woken up from the dream. A recent poll found that 41 percent of them would support a new Harris campaign, far outpacing any other Democrat.
That will fade. I bet people are telling pollsters they’ll support Harris again because they don’t know any other names — and when you think about it that way, 41 percent isn’t a great place to be at all.
The only other names to generate any significant interest in the poll were California Governor Gavin Newsom and Minnesota’s Tim Walz (Harris’ VP pick).
That suggests that Dem voters, like Harris, have not accepted the lessons of their November 5 thrashing.
The liberal cognoscenti were not so shocked by Trump’s victory this time. But they weren’t exactly prepared for him to pick up the vote by 2.5 million or sweep into Democratic strongholds like New Jersey or even New York City.
Only a party-wide delusion would explain that we should look to people like Harris, Newsom or Walz again.
Everywhere the Democrats do business, we see the same mess: policies that are soft on crime, soft on drugs, soft on immigration, soft on anti-Semitic radicals, profligate spending, education that stirs up politics in schools instead of literacy, with nothing. built and nothing works.
She reportedly plans to spend the holidays with family and discuss her next steps: whether to run for re-election in 2028, run for governor of California in 2026, or both.

Only a party-wide frenzy would explain that we have to look again at the likes of Harris, Gavin Newsom (pictured) or Tim Walz.
Newsom’s California has all that in truckloads. If Harris wants to run the state now, things will go downhill even faster than the last six years.
Before the presidential election, Harris wouldn’t even comment on a ballot initiative in California to repeal a ridiculous ban on theft for theft under $950. It passed easily.
California voters also fired the mayors of San Francisco and Oakland, as well as the district attorneys in those two cities plus Los Angeles. Harris no longer even understands the voters of her own state.
But the elites who run the Democratic Party, its policies and campaigns can’t even see it because they have completely lost touch with their working-class base.
Franklin D. Roosevelt famously said he was for “The Forgotten Man.” Now that wouldn’t look out of place at a MAGA rally.
Don’t ask me, ask ultra-liberal Senator Bernie Sanders, who is single-handedly sounding the alarm, saying that ‘the working people of this country are extremely angry. They have a right to be angry.”
The last straw for Harris will be all the donor money she has wasted.
Anyone can waste taxpayer money – Joe Biden has made a career of it – but wasting donor money is inexcusable. Her campaign brought in celebrities to appear at her rallies. Even worse, she gave the nonprofit Al Sharpton half a million dollars before being interviewed by him on MSNBC.
Sharpton was as responsible as anyone for persuading Biden to put Harris on the ticket in 2020; if even He is paid to ask softball questions to Harris, which major Democratic donor will want to trust her again?
If the Democrats want to survive as a legitimate opposition, they must go back to the drawing board. This isn’t about sticking a band-aid or retrying failed candidates. Kamala Harris should be left alone to enjoy a tall glass of wine.
